i has one of these now
In Exchange for doing a bit of work on his cars, My mate tim donated me the shell from the ITR we stole the gearbox from for his CRX. Basically he bought the car cheap as chips for its ITR gearbox and LSD. He took all the shit he could use/sell of the car and left me with the shell.
No keys/locks, no hubs, no swaybars, no engine, no gearbox, no carbon interior pieces, no steering wheel, no seats..... the list goes on.
What i do have is a shell with lights panels wiring dashboard and all panels. WOF till march 2012 and certed for adjustable coil-over suspension. So i thought i may rebuild this car into a bastard child dc2 with parts from a wrecked DC2 SiR etc
Heres some pics of the car as it sits now in my shed. its rough and needs some work. not impressed with the bog in the doors and black bootlid/fuel flap.

Pretty clean shell though. Sucks that they painted the decklid black, considering the jams are white. People are idiots.

I know that Australia has very stringent rules for any modified vehicle, but would this also be the case for New Zealand?
AccordB20A
12-10-2011, 12:39 AM
i think aussie is worce. over here you can get away with mods if the car is certified as safe by a registered certifier guy that charges you 400 bucks and tells you to put in a CAT then you get a plate riveted to your engine bay that tells you what engine and suspension and wheels you MUST have to pass wof. and if you change any of those a re-cert is required. fuck that, im keeping it b series haha
so since it already has a cert for adjusties, wouldn't you 'legally' need teh sized wheels that the cert tag thingy says?
AccordB20A
12-10-2011, 11:13 AM
cert plate will be removed. even then all it says on the cert is OE engine OE wheels and adjustable suspension. if i ever get 'justiez ill rivit it back on

temporary engine, original B18CR, used about a litre of oil going to auckland and back, smokes like a bitch. cant expect too much the cars had a hard life and done 210000kms
running OBD1 with a chipped P08 and a stock crome b18cr map. Engine is mated to a open diff Y21 gearbox i got for $80 from a EG9. Had a fucked diff so i swapped another open diff in for now as i was in a hurry to get the car working. i have a ITR LSD to put into this box eventually.

fixed the vtec tonight. solenoid filter was blocked up as well as the VSS plug cut off. I soldered it back on. Im still running the ITR tune on my OBD1 ecu so the motor doesnt run the best, Off-VTEC its fine, good torque/mid range but as soon as it come on vtec at 5800rpm it falls on its face for a bit until around 6800rpm it starts taking off and pulls all the way to 8k (at least)
i wont take it over 8k

Well it lasted a month but after a little spirited driving the other day the knocking started getting louder and louder. i had 40kms till i was home so i was taking it easy hoping to get it home in one piece so my B16 head wouldnt get fucked by piston(s) smashing into it.
5km from home the engine wouldnt idle but i made it another 3km before i got on my home straight turned the engine off and coasted the remining 2kms in my gate down the drive and into the shed. Before i turned the motor of it was clatring and banging and squeeking like it was about to give out.
long story short the engines out and im picking up a b18C+b16 head this weekend and that will be enough for now. i have no money at the moment to rebuilt a b20b block.

failed wof on bumper mounting (has a crack and they are concerned it will fall off) Also exhuast hs a leak in the header pipes somwhere so ill need them welded up and failed on rear brake pads. at least i dont need to swap in a power steering rack now :)
also i forgot to add i found soon after i installed my B18C it was an autyomatic b16a head on the B18C block so thats why i couldnt hear vtec. i put the manual cams out of my b20vtec in now its loud as and pulls much better. the oil leaks have slowed down now its got good new oil in it and its reliable as. Only bad noises its making id from the fucked LMA's in the head.
