I got rid of the roof antenna years ago, I had made a plate to fit in the hole, and it was welded in, whoever heard of making a radio antenna horizontal anyway? I finally found one I like at the yard, three bucks, the issue was the screw holding the base to the antenna top was frozen beyond removal, The Z car itself was rusted beyond saving, so I just knocked a hole in the rusted quarter panel and cut the antenna out, complete with sheet metal. I was able to remove the top of the antenna, but the bottom part of the bolt simply wasn't going to come out. I found a rubber fender Antenna at non advanced auto farts, and decided to modify the base to fit.

this is whats left of the original base after a serious effort to remove the remains of the bolt, after more then 30 years it's simply never coming out again

the antenna base I found had a stud instead of a threaded hole, the first thing to do was grind off the stud

Hi,

Here to talk about H.I.D (also known as High Intensity Discharge). So what Kind of H.I.D's do you want is the question? Well it all Depends on what color scheme you want. Here i will list: Color Temps, Watts, Bulb size, Brands, Adjustment and Housings, This will give you an idea what you should be looking for in the market.

COLOR TEMP:

Ok, let start off with Color Temps:
Temp Color
3000k (Yellow)
4300k (Yellowish white)
5000k (Pure White)
6000k (Bright white)
8000k (IceBerg Blue)
10,000k (Blueish/green)
12,000k (Blueish/purple)

You have a Selection on any color you want. If you want visibilty i would choose from 4300k-6000k for the best lighting. Ok thats enough on this.

WATTS:

Next up is Wattage,
Ok you ask yourself which one is better? The 35w or 55w? 55w is a lot brighter than the 35w. Remember the more watts the brighter its is. If you plan on getting the 55w i recommend adding a relay to protect your electrical harness.(I highly recommend you take it to a Professional for the installation)

Ok Bulb Size nothing much to say here but H4 Bulb LOL

BRANDS:

Alright Brands :O
Im not gonna tell you which brand to get as it your car and choice what you get for it. We got Xenon, Bi-Xenon which seem like good brands. Please note: If you buy a cheap Brand Expect what you pay for! Please ignore Ebay deals with projector headlamps!!! i will tell you why in a the housing section. Buy your HID KITS Bulbs From a Professional place with good feed back!

HOUSINGS:
Are you looking for a great housing for the best light output? Ok good, We have HELLA OR AUTOPAL H4 Conversion Headlamps. This head lamps will give great light pattern and visibility. If plan on using HID kits i would recommend HELLA For the best lighting. Do not buy those Cheap Projector housings on ebay as they will leak and give you a very crappy light output. You can find the autopals on ebay or search on google.

Adjustment:
We hate being blinded by other drivings so please Adjust them. Dont want the police pulling you over or blinding others.

Low beam or highbeam
I strongly suggest low beams for this car

What you should you look out for?
Look for the reflector on you HID Bulb it should be big and not small. Avoid bulbs with tiny bulb on the side.
35w
http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j0...mp-H4-HB2-.jpg
55w
http://www.asia.ru/images/target/pho...__HID_Bulb.jpg
Avoid:
http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j0...High-Beam-.jpg

Hid bulb vs stock:
http://www.themicelis.com/hid1.jpg

Color chart:
http://www.delonixradar.com.au/hid-x...lour-chart.php

Autopals Careful when buying they have different types of headlights! Look at them carefully!
Samplehttp://rimiusa.com/images/200mm%20euro%20classic.jpg

Hella: Same goes for these as well
http://spd.blinkerfluid.org/images/h4_compare1.jpg

H4 bulbs: Any H4 bulb will work just be careful of the wattage you put!

Well thats it for the HID KIT or H4 Conversion

But my problem is the outer rocker panels are badly rotted, rock chips allowed the salt to eat away at the bare metal over the years even though the car was undercoated. My question is this, is it possible to find the rocker panels for a 2 door coupe? Or is it possible to hack up some 4 door panels to patch the rust along with some help from bondo and fiberglass? I love this car and I do not want to see it go to the scrap yard. Stupid Minnesota and their salt usage....

Greetings all, first time Honda owner here. I recently purchased an 89 Accord LX automatic as a commuter because the cost of driving my other vehicle was killing me. I did a little searching around before I registered but I wasn't finding answers to the questions I have so I figured I'd post up and see if anyone has suggestions.

Problem 1- the car has an oil leak. I'm not sure where it's coming from exactly, the kid I bought it from said it was the distributor but there is enough crud on the engine it's hard to say for sure. I need to pressure wash it to try and locate the leak, but I was curious if this is a common place for oil to leak? It isn't coming from the valve cover, and doesn't appear to be coming from the head gasket. Beyond that, I can't tell. I took it to an oil change place so we could get under the car and try to find it, and all we could see was oil dripping slowly down a tube that connects to the upper part of the oil pan... couldn't see the other end of it. It drips on the exhaust and you can smell it even while driving.

Problem 2- occasionally the carb acts funny and wants to idle high. I've checked things over lightly and don't see anything that stands out as an issue. It runs fine and doesn't have any problems when driving. Yesterday was the worst it's been, it was going about 30mph without me touching the throttle at all. When I parked the car the idle speed was about 2500rpm. Shut it off and it was normal again when I left work...

Problem 3- minor but very annoying. The trunk won't latch. I removed the latch assembly and it's all working fine. I tried adjusting it but couldn't get it to latch. I ended up folding down the back seat, crawling into the trunk and forcing the latch closed with some pliers.

Problem 4- also very minor but annoying. The key lock by the driver's seat for the trunk won't unlock. I only got one key with the car which works fine in the ignition, doors, and trunk but won't unlock that one lock. So far I have not been able to figure out how to remove it either to try and see what the issue is.

And the age old question... I've only done one fill up so far and got 27mpg. Is that about average?

I believe that's all for now. Not sure if this forum is one of the "you must post pics" types but she's really not much to look at anyway

Was wondering if you folks could keep your eyes out for a mint 1985 Accord 4 Dr LX. must be blue interior. Or maybe you have one you want to sell? This was my first car back in high school and I really wish I had it back. Weird I know, but I figured if anyone was going to understand it would be the people on this forum. If you find a car I end up buying, I would toss in a finders fee. I'm willing to pay a premium for a car in nice condition. I know its a bit of a longshot because these cars are dwindling, but figured it doesn't hurt to try. Thanks!

Now im thinking of changing everything thats black and making it the maroon interior color ..
Has anyone ever replaced the top of the dash , and can it be done .. i swore when i took my dash off years ago i seen that you can replace the top..

happy to find the 3geez community!!

last friday, just bought a 1-owner 1988 LXi 4D in maroon/burgundy from an 84 yo little old lady in mint condition with 88,000 miles... it's a GEM to find the rare garage-kept proverbial grandma's grocery getter... i have all records, even her original purchase contract. no dents (couple door dings), interior like new, original paint in excellent condition... engine fires up like new... time warp!!

but, it needs about $1800 in basic work to refresh since she only drove it 5000 miles in the last 3 years... suspension work (control arms, tie rods, etc), a/c recharge, new rotors/brakes, minor service, power steering flush, transmission flush, new tires, 4 wheel balance/rotation, etc.

this car is an unrequited love thing for me... i bought one brand new in 1988 (i'm an old fart), which was a black lxi 4d with add-ons of 15" momo 5 stars and a bossani dual tip muffler from jackson racing... after a year of great times in her and even surviving the great san francisco earthquake of '89 in it, i let my younger brother borrow one day... AND that was the last i ever saw of her... he wrecked it on the freeway when some racers cut him off... i'm so happy to relive 1989!! i love it more than my 09 328ias and my 05 cayenne turbo... i enjoy it more than 05 carrera c4s cabriolet (which i sold)...

i want to keep it bone stock old school original... but i'm sure i will be lightly modding/upgrading it soon with only parts that can be unbolted. things i want to do:

- 15" rims (maybe 16 or 17) in bbs lm style
- lowering springs (or fully threaded coil-overs)
- full or partial bra
- dual tip 3" round muffler (megan racing or magna flow, or ??)
- ventashades
- new radio with pop-out 6-7" touchscreen lcd (original cassette honda radio still there!)
- kill switch

engine will remain stock.. hope it lasts 300,000-500,000 miles..

ok, have a great day!!
