straight pipe

Alright guys, I tackled the air intake on my car, pretty sure it will work once I cut a few things, im hoping my Check engine light wont go on. anyway I want my exhaust to be louder and get a few more HP and torque, I heard running a straight pipe on my car will allow that? I dont think they check for smog emissions in new mexico, but im driving illegal now anyway. Besides my muffler is rusting away bad, no holes yet though and all the bolts are stripped on the exhaust tip, so I think ill just take a hack saw and chop off the muffler? Or how exactly do you run a straight pipe?

well I have a license nd stuff I just need to register the car in a few days, im just gonna put a cherry bomb I think. If not im tight on money, I have about $20 and want to make the car louder and free up a few horsepower, would just cutting the muffler off and attaching a longer pipe and muffler tip make it super loud? like to where it would be horribly loud or quite a bit louder but not where you could hear me coming 10 miles away?

lol thanks man, unbolt the muffler right? ill try but most of the bolts are rusted and stripped, like someone tried to get them off with plyers... lol.

I guess im just going to cut the pipe off right before the muffler, take the muffler off and if or when it gets to loud ill just put a new muffler on, cuz mine is rusted anyway.

I think your falling into the catagory of "Ricer" Trying to make it loud. Thats why domestic guys laugh when they see a honda. Next thing you know you will be at autozone buying chrome trim, flame sticker, underglow, and some banging ass chrome hub caps. Then you will upgrade to a big ass space ship wing. Then possibly a carbon fiber ebay hood scoop and you will be set my man. Dont forget the 5 inch tac. and light up shift knob.

I ran my broncoII, minivan, and my 3g with no cat back exhaust and my only accessory on any of those were lots of rust

I did the cherry bomb thing and it was fucking terrible. At least get a cheapo muffler that sounds sort of decent, I've used the Raptor, and a Thrush on my Toy pickup, and both sounded decent, the Raptor being louder.
