how much horsepower does an A20a3 provide?? how much would money do u think id be lookin to spend if i wanna get one.

a A20a3 88-89 has 120 hp

a A20a3 86-87 has 110 hp

With the age, I doubt a stock A20A3 would push out 120 horses for an 88-89 and 110 horses for an 86-87. I got my A20A3 motor a year ago for $450. I could've gotten it cheaper elsewhere, but I was in need of it badly then.

OT, but what were the differences between 86/87 and 88/89?

i know the intake manifiold was different, and the exhaust was different as well. were there different pistons, or different heads?

reason i ask is i have the 86, and i am looking to get some more power... maybe i could snag some 89 parts for cheap!

better compression. and my lx-i im pretty sure is pushing 120 without the mods i have already. if im able to beat 4th gens with a stock car. when they also have a stick. i would say that my car was well taken care of. i wont lie. it was. i bought it from a old lady that was the original owner. she had everything changes when it was recommended to do so. so my engine is pretty well maintained. iive taken my car for tune-ups and the mechanic told me that normally i would need one, at this type age. but i didnt need. one. what a clean engine. well not the dirt on the outside. :D

mine is clean on the outside, but who knows about the inside!

its been maintained pretty well, but it needs a timing belt and new plugs prolly...

my car never gives me much trouble though! so i guess its happy.

ok so how does it get better compression, which components are different?
