<br />
It's too bad that the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/super+gt/">Super GT</a> series from Japan doesn't have wider availability in the US. It's full of recognizable cars and consistently high-quality racing, but it's not widely covered. A new video from GT Channel sheds some much-needed light on this less well-known motorsport and shows just how exciting it can be.<br />
<br />
The video highlights the second round of the Super GT season at Fuji Speedway. It blends lots of super slow-motion cinematography with augmented-reality-esque graphics to provide more details to viewers. They also interview the drivers for their perspective on the series, including former <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/formula+1/">Formula One</a> pilot Vitantonio Liuzzi who drives a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/acura+nsx/">Honda NSX</a> in the series.<br />
<br />
The one thing that the video doesn't do well is explaining much about the series for newbies. Super GT is split into two classes, which race simultaneously. The GT500 class uses the same chassis and aerodynamics regulations as <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/dtm/">DTM</a> in Germany, but the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2014/01/28/lexus-rc-f-super-gt-daft-punk-video/">engines are all 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinders</a>. This year the teams can choose between the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/lexus/rc/">Lexus RC</a>, Honda NSX and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/nissan/gtr/">Nissan GT-R</a>. There is also the slower GT300 class with a mix of <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/fia+gt3/">FIA GT3</a> cars and other entries like a <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/07/05/honda-and-mugen-develop-widebody-twin-turbo-v6-cr-z-for-racin/">Honda CR-Z</a>, <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/06/toyota-prius-gt300-coming-to-supergt/">Toyota Prius</a> and <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/03/subaru-brz-gt300-looks-even-better-in-motion/">Subaru BRZ</a>. <a href="/2014/05/22/super-gt-video/#continued">Scroll down</a> to watch a new perspective on this somewhat obscure motorsport.<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2014/05/22/super-gt-video/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Super GT has never looked so good</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2014/05/22/super-gt-video/">Super GT has never looked so good</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Thu, 22 May 2014 20:00:00 EST.
