Teg hands down. I've use both the 85 lude and the teg. If you plan to do alot of highway driving then it might be smart to toss a 5th gear from a carbed accord in the trans. The teg's 5th is around where the accord's 4th is.

Ok, that is what I was thinking. I have been searching for 86-89 teg trannys, I found a 87 for $200 with 86K on it. Does that sound like a fair price?

Seems a bit high. I paid $125 for mine if I remember right. The tranny doesn't have an lsd but one can be added. I put a phantom grip in mine. The opm lsd for the 3rd gen accord will also fit. I think quafe or kaaz makes one as well (I forget but it was expensive).

OK, maybe I'm stupid, and I know it's been addressed before, but is the teg tranny a direct bolt-on like the 2G 'lude?

nope... u use the gears from a teg in a Lude case... i think?!? i have a lude tranny and it has wicked gear ratios! cruise at 60 in 5th gear at 2900 RPM... u dont even have to downshift to accelerate!

I got it here www.quick60tuning.com. It was 300 and something, I don't remember off hand. I've never used an accord tranny. My car had a blown tranny when I got it so I stated with a lude one. The lude one can't compair to the teg one though. With the dx 5th 2900 is closer to 70, but with 4.20:1 final gears the car can still accelerate. With a teg 5th in there 2900 is closer to 50 and it feels like the lude 4th.

do you think that it was worth the $300? I have been reading that some people like the phantom grip and others think it is crap.

I don't really have anything bad to say about it. It takes it a second to lock up and sometimes it locks when I don't want it to. Then again flooring it around a tight turn is just asking for trouble to being with. The down side to the phantom grip is that it doesnt have friction surfaces. It is metal to metal aginst the spider gears in your diff. This does cause more wear. but the phantom grip also costs less then half as much as its closest competior, opm, which kind of off sets this. When I say more wear I don't mean its going to wear out in a week or something, its just not going to last for 100,000+ miles with out replaceing something. Its a full locker though one wheel usually has to break loose for a sec before it will lock. Its the only limited slip I have tryed in fwd so I can't really give a good compairison but the car does feel better in corners under power and under braking, esp cornering while braking.
