new 2g owner to the fourm wanna do swap

Hello. I'm new to the fourm I recently got a 83 accord from the original owner. I'm getting bored with it, and want more power, my previous car was a 2008 civic Si, I'm curious what would it take if possible to swap a K series I to a 2g accord I've done it to an eg Si hatch how much more difficult, also what's needed for a b16 or gsr? I know the b20a and a20 is possible but b20a is hard to find and a20 doesnt have the performance I want.

I have searched and read but don't see much on k series.

So far i never heard about k series swap in to 2geez..
But i've seen 2geez f20b swap..
Perfomance..?not bad...180hp with tiptronic..cool...:)
Manual transmision can going up to 220hp..but its hard to get it...:(

Looks pretty clean and I dig the drop and wheels!

Sadly any engine swap is going to be custom work. It's an 83 so even an A20A is not a direct swap due to the EK1 having the exhaust exiting at the back of the engine vs A20A and other engines having the exhaust at the front and thats gonna be an issue with the clearance with the front crossmember. Someone on this forum made an A20A fit by doing extensive work to the front crossmember

Everything is possible with a lot of custom fabrication though!

Honestly, no one is going to understand why you want to do this, because 95+% of people are going to think, "what an ugly car, ugly body style, why bother??".

If you're past that, and have money to spend, which virtually NO ONE on this forum does, it is doable.

Get the powertrain you want, complete with all accessories, motor mounts, axles, wiring harness, and ecu.

Do not try to alter the factory mount configuration as it is on the powertrain. I learned this the hard way. The mounts are located on the powertrain for reasons of vibration and torque control, and you do not want to alter that. What you want to alter is the body of the car to accept those mounts. This will require some fabrication. You'll probably have a tradeoff between oil pan ground clearance and hood clearance, and driveaxle angle at ride height is another factor influencing that. You may need a custom hood, the K20 is a tall motor.

The axles, you will most likely be able to swap the ends to fit the accord hubs.

The wiring, I don't know. It will be a pain, but can be done. You may even be able to adapt the dash display the powertrain comes with to your car. That's probably what I would try to do.

If the powertrain you want is a manual, which I assume it is, you will also need to do something about the requirement of a hydraulic clutch. I would just go hydraulic, I would not try any cable to hydraulic adapter. So adding a hydraulic clutch master cyl at the firewall.

I'm amazed that you found a 2nd gen in VA that isn't 50% rust.

The steps for an engine swap like this are pretty much as follows:
1. Buy sawzall.
2. Buy 4" angle grinder
3. Buy a welder
4. Cut, chop, weld
5. Figure out axles
6. Huge hole in the hood for half of the engine to stick out (as previously mentioned, the K series is a tall engine)
7. Wiring headaches!

No one here is discouraging you from this project. We just want to set the expectation that lots of custom fabrication will be required, but after reading your posts here, it seems that you understand the challenges involved in such a project.
