get the pacesetter... and it dont matter how much u will gain, it is the seat of the pants feel... u will feel a shit load more power in the 3000+ rpm range. i would guess a 25 HP gain and maybe 15-20 lb/ft torque

so i have a stupid question to ask, is can u gain good acceleration power w/o gaining that much hp? i

torque and hp ARE acceleration, especially torque! :)

89accordboi
12-09-2002, 02:45 PM
what are upgrades/mods that will upgrade torque?

dXsquared
12-09-2002, 03:18 PM
what i said B4... it is pretty hard to make more HP with out more TQ...a 6.6 liter Pontiac motor has alot of torque, so drop one of those in... the bigger the liters, the more torque in general

torque is harder to gain then hp

your joking right ? 25 hp gain with a pacesetter ? or do you mean all the stuff 89accordboi listed? even those things wouldnt give 25 i dont think

Are you mentally retarded? 25hp from a header? So Honda put an inefficient header on there because they knew that 25hp would rip the car apart right?

Damn rice boys. Let me guess......intakes add 50 and cams add 100hp, right?

i would say 10 - 15 with the pacesetter header, it definatly makes a difference that u can feel. you have to get one to understand.

I have herd people say their ngk-r plugs add 5 hp because they have 9.3 mm apc wires

I would be guessing more then 25 hp total gain..
cuz the cam re-grind alone gives you 10-15% more HP..so thats like 15-20hp gain rite there

plus headers and exhaust, and if you get ngk plugs, advance timing...you would be lookin at i would say about 30-40 hp gain..

Maybe 15HP if ur lucky with all that stuff!! Remember our engines are old and lack stock power!! 16yrs that was Great, but now is nothing!! also 98hp, but ur probably driving around with about 80-85hp...Ur goal should be to reach 100hp @ the wheels!! Good Luck!

Mantis88LX
12-10-2002, 06:26 PM
well if you car has been mantained well then u would still have the stock power, oldness donest mater if the car has had the oil changed at the right times and tuneups and so on.

i agree with ‹^› ‹(•¿•)› ‹^› the most you will see from those things is 15 hp ... also if the stock carb has 98 hp that dosent mean thats the power getting to the wheels... 100 whp would be alot on that car

pffffffffffffffff.. are you on crack???
go smoke another one...

the cam ALONE will give a 15-20hp gain itself!!

plus Headers and exhaust... trust me...you are look at anywhere from 25-40hp gain...
i know my sources....
15 hp...thats a joke....

pmip
12-11-2002, 12:24 AM
I'd say you're probably looking at about 90-95whp, but it's really hard to say since no one ever dynos their car with any of those mods.

you can say what you want ... lets see your sources ? ... 25-40 hp gain is quite a broad range ..... lets say it like this ..with a header cam and exhaust you will expect to see anywhere from 1-100 hp ...that good ? ... so lets say the cam gives you 15hp ..ok ...so your saying the exhaust and header may give you up to 25hp ? ....now who is on crack

the cam ALONE will give a 15-20hp gain itself!!

Look its simple. Colt Cams is doing a group buy regrind right now. They are telling us that their tri-flow mild grind will offer about 10% gain on the stock hp numbers. I would think that a medium would be about 13% and wild about 17% Thats only 17hp max on a well maintained car. So if you are refering to the wild grind you may be acurate on that end of the argument.

Now headers arent even an enternal performance application. Its external. How much HP do you really think you can gain by making a few pipes larger? I would say about 6hp or around there. Being that I am getting ready to order the headers and the grind is in process I will say that with my gutted cat, 2.25inch piping, headers, grind, and plugs that I would be up about 25 hp total. THAT ISNT SHIT!!!! OUR CARS WILL STILL BE BEAT BY NEW CARS WITH 130 HP!!!!!! doesnt mean that Im not going to do it anyway... but still... :flip:

Jerren

wtf!!! headers only add like 2-3 hp!! and cams maybe 5 hp.

Jerren
12-11-2002, 09:01 AM
and i don't know where the hell you guys are getting these numbers, i have i/h/e, cams, plugs, advanced timing and i know damn well i didn't get 25 hp. and if thats the case i should have damn near 150 hp. bull shit.

quoting actual numbers is a no no. It's like an Iraqee sticking his head out of the fox hole,....your going to get shot up. Your butt ain't a dyno. That's why I say, when commmenting on the gain's I got from adding a header on, after the cat-back, that it was worth every penny I paid and gave me a nice improvement in power. How much HP did it give, no one know's, no one has dyno'd OUR CAR'S. I know it's more than 2hp-5hp because of how much MPH I picked up on my hick 1/4mile test's. Again, a exact number, who know's.

there is no since in arguing ...we will not know the exact amount of the gain unless the car is dyno'd before and after ... so i say lets end it here

well maybe its not even work decking out a 3rd gen? maybe i should go get a 4th or 5th gen wit hthe money that i will save instead of getting I/H/E headers cam advance timing and all taht stuff, maybe decking out a car this old is a joke? i have a friend who has an 86 LXi and it seems pretty freakin fast, then i got my car and drove and mine is freaking slow, and my brothers 94 accord VTEC is pretty fucking fast, whats the point in tricking out a 13 year old car when the engine and carb itself wont even put that much out? if u save all the money rather then spending it on engine mods and go buy urself a 5th gen, if u put them to the test against each other i would put my money on the 5th. see, personally i want to have a rice rocket and take it out to PIR (Portland International Raceway) on friday nights and pay $20 to beat the shit out of people to embarass them, but i agree it would be tight to have a 13 year old car and be owning like a rice rocket... but tricking out a 13 year old car = beans. tricking out a recent car = rice... beans vs rice = rice wins imo.

I hate to tell you this, but if your looking to be the fastest car on the track, no matter what car you choose, honda probably isn't the best brand.

Dude!! It does not matter what car u have!~! If u want your car to a top perfomer!! It's gonna cost money!! you can have a 3rd gen or a fifth gen!! Is still gonna cost money!! most track cars don't even have the original engine that came with the car!! So either way!! ur gonna spend money!! alot of it!!

Ok, first of all, throw away your copy of The Fast and the Furious!!!! Hondas aren't the fastest cars made, rice is not a good thing, but most importantly, LEARN YOUR FUCKING CAR!!!! You keep complaining about your accord not being fast enough, "should I buy the LXI for more power", "how much hp will these mods add", "maybe I should sell my 3g", etc. HONDAS AREN'T MADE FOR PURE SPEED AND ACCELERATION!!!!! I like hondas and I like my honda, but I didn't get it to be the fastest fucking car on the road!!!! Hondas are basic cars that have good handling, reliability, and pump out a lot of power for small displacement naturally aspirated engines. Seriously, every other post I read from you has to do with "my car isn't fast enough"!!! Without spending a lot of money, your car won't be very fast! Live with it , spend all that money to make it fast, or get a differant car! I don't care, just quit bitching about it!!!

BTW - For the record, I really don't like Ford and would never buy one, and Honda is a brand of car.

yup..
I am with pimp all the way....
actually....i would prefer having a 3rd gen over a 4th gen...
why, cuz i can already beat 4th gens as is...
also...to slam out an older car is the shit...hence the word " sleeper"... cuz you pull up to the line against lets say a teg...
now no one is gonna expect the 3gee to spank the tag..

now drop a nice h22 or b16 with v-tec in your 3rd gen, and you will see how many heads you will turn...
thats why i am into doin up the older car...
to someday see it beat out a lude, teg, all civics...hahaa
ya...

but it's gonna cost money....so live wit it...
