How do they even work? Nobody I ask knows how the hell they work, other than they're really fast and have no rev limit.

All I know is that RX-7s' have rotary engines don't they? I heard they break down a lot. That could be b/c someone was messing with it though.

it works by spinning a rotor err heres is how they work http://www.howstuffworks.com/rotary-engine.htm,
yea they can break down if not treated properly. theres been some engines that have well over 250000 miles on them
main reason why they can break down is insufficient cooling.
but they are small engines that create big power

they have a limit they rev until they blow

you will have to convert to RWD car. and it would be cheaper just to buy RX7.

I would just do a LSD conversion instead, but that's just me.

Its probalby possible. Those things are small enough that they will physically fit where you want it to. You're going to have to modify the tranny a bit to get it to bolt to the motor though. And of course the whole custom mount thing.

dude, just by an rx7 (they can be really sweet if done right) if you want a rotary car. can prob find a good one (maybe even with a turbo) for less than it would cost to put its engin in your 3g.

yea i know just buy one but thats not the point.. of this post ... i would have boughten a rx7 withoutposting this if i really watned to. its the same thing where people drop lt1's into civic hatchbacks. its the point of a project.to make the desired car go fast

I was looking through my books last night and found this diagram. Maybe you will find it informative. The link above didn't work for me.

Yeah, it's basically 2 doritos on a stick going round and round. And although I think it would be cool to see a 3g with a rotary, I think it'd be way too much work and money when you can start off with a much more performance oriented car (RX7) for a lot cheaper.

"This Beautiful Red RX-7 has a EXTRA RARE REAR Bucket Seat!!! This was an extra mostly used in Japan for Insurance and Tax Purposes."

Hahaha, why would anyone want to pay to put back seats in that thing (in the US)??? It'd be about half the size of the Supra rear seats (which an infant can't even sit in)!!!! What a waste of money! And they got rid of the storage bins that are supposed to be there, just to fit the seats in. The owner must have been smoking something when he put those in!

I hear the Rotaries are sweet but are intolerant to abuse and frequent thrashing... any truth to that?

Not really. The main problems with the rotaries is that they are limited to about 600hp, and they produce a lot of heat (at least with the twin turbos in the latest model),which is why they are known as not being very reliable. They are, however, extremely light, and imo 600hp is a ton for a 1.3L engine.

I've had to sit in the back of a Supra. And yes, a real person can fit. It's not that bad of a fit if you're just going around town. If you decide to go for a long haul, you just have to stretch out across both the seats. And, there is so much extra room for the front seats, it's not that hard to convince the passenger to slide the seat forward a bit.

Screw the rx7 they are gay. Go to like a junkyard or something and ask about either an rx2 or rx3. They look like a ford festiva or some crap and are really light they also have the 2 rotor weinkel engine. The rotary idea is freakin fast but honest to god they only last a couple of years driving fast and I think thats why you want to swap is to go faster. If you want a rotary car or motor get a MAZDA COSMO. They have the three rotor motor and make aproximately 297bhp OH YEAH out of a luxury car!
