Ok not the best way, but it's will be work:
Go to MS Word, insert images and set sizes of it:
Speedometer - 10.0 x 10.0 cm
Tach and FT - 8.8 x 8.8 cm

heres 1 thing i noticed. when you open them up in a photo program. it says that the

56 dpi
3417 width
1200 height

you will need to change it to:

300 dpi
6000 width
2107 height

then you will need to change the widht and height to:

3417 width
1200 height

by the way i am using fireworks 4

ok here's the .doc file i used to print mine. right click save as (http://server19.hypermart.net/needadll/gauges.doc)

for the needles, i cut the holes out a little bigger so they could slide over the needles. for the fuel/temp gauge, i just made small slits on each side of the gauges so that i wouldnt have to deal with fitting the gauges over the needles (which is nearly impossible without making a mess since i used spray adhesive to secure them) theres no reason to believe that they wont work

Wow! Then i sleep, you make in this topic real Hell :))
So, how i understand, my idea with þÅØÀÀ and 300dpi is not work on many computers... :-( Idea with MS Word - is not best way, because it's make small corrections on images :( I want to help all of us to correctly print my gauges, if it needed - i can reupload gauges in another format with correct dpi.

Please, write what problem do you have? And how you print my gauges? In that program?

socal3rdgen
12-09-2002, 09:21 PM
ok paul first of all you did a really good job on these gauges and they are very much appriciated. anyways. the dpi that they were exported with were 56 dpi (well at least the ones that i got)on the first page you will see that i wrote a mini how-to on how to convert them using a photo program. if you want you could just upload the .tif itself. it only runs about 738 kb.

First I completly demonted everything, included remove the needles and the plastic plate, the I cleaned the plastic plates completly from paint and everything, then I printed the gauges out on a self-adhesive photopaper. I had already painted the needles red and made lights red.

Here is the result:
http://home.no.net/mfborge/images/accord/Accord_33.jpg

Here with lights on, ant blitz on the camera...
http://home.no.net/mfborge/images/accord/Accord_34.jpg

And here without blitz:
http://home.no.net/mfborge/images/accord/Accord_35.jpg

A little to strong light, so I think I have to paint the plates behind any just white light infont of them...

socal3rdgen

dont do that you just need to use heavier paper. what if you paint them to dark them it will be a bitch to get the paint of without messing the look of the gauges off. just use a heavier paper.

Metro
12-10-2002, 11:09 AM
I don't really understand what you mean, I want to paint the backside of the plate complitly black so it dos not come any light through it... And just have white light shining down to them from the top...

And isn't it just one type of self-adhesive photopaper?
What I can do, is maybe to paint it white on the backside and get a little light through...

Hey Paul when I go to opne the file from its current location it goes right to microsoft word the a screen pops up that says to translate so that it can be read on my computer I press ok then microsoft word comes back up with jusk pk then some squares after that so I cant figure out how to get the gauges to come up to print. The gauges look dope and I want to get a set in my car as soon as possible so any help would be great. Thanx

paul the gauges are fine. some people need to learn how to resize documents, and how to change their printer settings. if you are viewing a 300dpi image for it to come out the right size you will need to print out in 300dpi, its as simple as that. if for some reason your printer cant handle that, then open it up in photoshopl, and change the resolution to 150, or 100, or whatever your printer needs. also if you dont have photoshop. go download jasc paint shop pro. its a lot easier to use than photoshop, and i think it can change picture DPI...

good luck all. and dont pester paul to change the guage, it took me a few trys but i have it perfect now. another think you can try is "fit media to page" if you do not select that option it may print out way too big.

anyway its possible, just play with your setting.. GL. :P

ps, unless you all have photo printers, it prolly wont look good. take it to kinkos, and for a couple dollars have them print it on matte photopaper... that way you get it done right.. :)

if u want to set them in size... use Microsoft paint... u can do it there.. U can also do what I did, add 2 9 inch black lights underneith the part of the dash where theres a lip... u know the part that has a green plastic part and theres a bulb in there, and then just remove all the light bulbs behind the dash... it looks wicked cool... check out my pics at my thread in the appearence section here is the link....

Follow that link to see what it looks like at night.... that should give u guy's a general Idea..... Lataz

I'm trying to make some custom gauges for my 86. Right now I have 17" rims and my speedometer is off. I'm trying to make some gauges that go up 160 mph, but I need to get the speedometer recalabrated so that it reads correctly. If I could do it myself I would or should I pay to have it done?

Does anybody have the slightest clue what I'm talking about or do I need to put it in simpler English. I orginally tried to keep it short to save me time but if I need to spell it out I will gladly do, because I can use some help right now.

I just put in my guages but now my needles are all messed up. My speedo doesnt read right and the fuel doesnt work. How can i fix this???????????????????????????????????????????

03-20-2003, 09:14 PM
CARS7945-----take em out and redo em. you should hae been more careful and remember ed or marked where they went..but no use now....anywyas.....just have your friend drive along side you at X speed....run neck 'n neck.....see how much your off and adjust ACCORDingly....mwahahaha......for your gass ...my only suggestion is fill it up all the way...till hte pump stops...and just go off to the side of the gas station and set your gague right there before you go anywhere...to full.....yeah itll be weird doing it in a gas station parking lot...but its worth it for the accuracy u want for that gauge...

JUSTIN86---i have NO clue what you mean. PLEASE...STOP doing drugs..and clarify..,how does rims impact your speedo? and why 160?!?!?! for looks? or are you going to tell us your car does 160....i could beleive it with the other justin (turboaccord)..but i dunno...lets see a mod list here including turbo and nos...

Justin86
03-21-2003, 11:25 AM
First off I don't do drugs. I'm sorry that I didn't explain myself better the first time, I was in a little bit of a hurry. My 17" rims does effect the speedo. With stock tire size the diamater is 22.5" and with the 17" the tire is 23.5" in diamater. This makes the speedo read about 4% slower. Basically if I'm doing 63 mph the speedometer is reading 60 mph. The 160 mph gauges are mostly for looks for now but I do plan on a turbo and NOS and all of the other mods. For now I only have my rims and a nice sound system. I'm only 17 so money isn't to abundant right now. Now I'm working on swaping to EFI, it should be done in about a week, but i need an (88-89) intake manifold first. I hope on having enough money by summer to get some NOS,:) but my mom might kick me out if I do. :(

just curious... i know they go over the stock ones.. but would they still be as bright?

you add black lights in where the lip is in the cluster. At least thats what i heard. but Justin, i know what you are talking about. its like theses guys getting a 5" lift and adding 33's on and expect the speedo to be the same, the guys here know what your talking about but are just givin ya a hard time. lol anyhow, I know its late but welcome to the board. I just turned 18 so i know what ya mean about money. lol. Good luck and hope to see progress on your car. Take care.

I finished with my gauges and fixed my needles. I figured out that i didnt cut the paper out good enough so the needles were rubbing. I printed mine out in black and white instead of color. It looks bad. I also made the lights in the top blue. I will try to post pics A.S.A.P.

P.S. Thanx Jester the gas thing worked perfect.
