Hey i have a question about the shift knob how do you take the stupid think out because i try just turning the knob and it doesnt work do you have to do something with that ring on the shift knob or do you have to take the whole thing off? Please help

the stock knob is held on by the little chrome ring. so u have to unscrew the front part of the console nad then take the knob off. then when u have got the whole thing off, flip the knob and boot inside out and u will see a zip tie nad a rubber band. take them off and the boot will fall away from the stock knob. if u wanna replace the whole bag and knob, just take the silver trim ring off the stock bag and take them off togeter. then go and get ur new bag and knob and stick them back togetther!

you can get a flathead screwdriver between the bottom of the knob and top of the boot and pry them apart.

will that actually work grant? We need a good how - to on this

Grant2k

it's pretty easy. here's the deal. the stock knob has a clip on the bottom. one prong on either side of it. the top of the boot has a collar on it that the knob clips onto. you can pry them, or you can just grab the boot (at the hard plastic top of it) and pull down real hard. just don't tear the boot.

the problem you are then faced with is the boot has a funny shaped hole on top. unless you change the boot, which i haven't, you just deal with it. the plastic collar on top of the boot will rattle against the shift lever, but you can hold it in place with your hand as you shift. it's not a big deal. if you get it off you'll understand it all.

i had a b&m shifter handle that i "borrowed" from work. it looked and worked pretty tight, but it got hella hot in the summer and hella cold in the winter, other than that i liked it.

that's because it doesn't even go low enough for you to tell it's a short throw!! that's my opinion anyway.
