whats the best heat coating paint to use on your intake pipe? Can i use the brake caliber paint? :stupid:
Just go a car parts store and pick out some high temp paint in the color you want. Most of them will say what temperature they are rated for.
they have anodiser spray out now its good till +300 degrees
most painks will work for an intake. intake dont get to hot.

thanks for ur replys i didn't read the caliber paint can carefully cause it says 900*F coating use on brake calipers and drums also for engine blocks and componets.... so i guess it should work but i might need a primer to get it to stick on the pipe.

So far i like powerdercoating by far because its a nice smooth finish that is baked on and not to expensive. Jim on the other hand did a nice job on his valve cover but he said he did heat it as well. I used VHT paint on my calipers but it didnt work to well and i preped it pretty good since they i bought the calipers and painted then before i put them on and i even cleaned them well.

i think the best is to use heat resistant paint depending on what intake pipe you're talking about

is the paint supposed to reflect the heat or is it just for looks? Is it even worth doing?

I personally wouldn't do it if your intake pipe is polished alluminum. It doesn't get that hot. Your better off spraying other parts like valve cover, headers, etc.. I think if it looks good now why change it?
