View Full Version : My car whistles Please help

I just got my first mod today a intake and filter. It made a nice power gain but it whistles really loud between 1500-2000 rpms. After 2000 rpms it sounds great but i cant stand the whistle. Any ideas on how to fix it. :wtf:

make sure everything is tight and there are no small leaks. or stop listening.

lol, but the whistle is coming in where turbo lag is suppose to be, lol, then it comes away when turbo kix in? hahaha, just a thot.

when i put mine on, i get no wistle sound, but a rather "metal-to-metal" scraping sound, i think my filter is either clinging against some of the small metal pipes, or the hood, it's not very loud, but u can notice if u hear carefully

ok well i am going to go make some leaks,and loosen my connections, i want a turbo whistle. mine just makes a SHHHHHH sound until 5000rpm, when it just gets super loud and makes me smile! heheh

There are no leaks it so damm annoying. Its the sound the throtle body makes when there is no intake on like if you are using throtle body cleaner. Does anyone elses whistle? I love the performance gain but I am gonna take it off untill i figure something out.

mine whistles,always has. don't know what it is. i just stoped listening.

Have you ever been pulled over because of it. Mine is real loud I get funny looks 1 group of guys thought it was a turbo. i dont care so much what people think but more important the cops because there are alot here you cant drive 3 miles without seeing 1. And the favorite thing to say please pop your hood. I was with my freind when he got pulled over, the 2 cops were looking at the engine for ten minutes then one of them said "o its a six cylinder" they dont know cars but they know illegal intakes.

some places require a permit for anything. i learned about that in Hawaii from Mike (A20A1) and i have heard it about other places.

mine makes the same noise!! I replaced my TB and it stopped.Than it started again!! I think it maybe some kind of vacum leak!!!!

Yours must be really loud or something.
AFAIK, it's normal having whistle sound and hissing from the cone filter.

Fisrt off what kind of filter is on your intake? Mine is the Weapon R dragon intake, and it whistles like a bitch.

I contacted weapon R, the rep. said that it was "normal" for the intake/filter to whistle like that.

I am not a big fan of the filter, I bought the kit for like $85, this was all before knowing about the "make your own" thread. Infact I had it before joining this page.

I plan to get a K&N cone filter to replace the Star Wars Filter I have now.

So to sum it up, the weapon R filter/intake is supposed to whistle, as for the K&N or knockoff K&N filters, I am not sure.

Mine is a spectre I beleive, I know its not the best I got it at Autozone I work there so I got 20% off . My friend had the same setup on his del sol and it didnt whistle. My other friend has a K&N that I an gonna try.

no i've never been pulled over.the whistling isn't real loud but loud enough you can hear it if you turn off the radio!

dude, check your belts and everything. it could just be a coincidence that you are hearing the whistle now.

I thought that but if i put all my stock stuff on it stops. I hope its just the filter, does anyone have a K&n cone filter on there honda? If so how do you like it? And thanks everyone for tryin to help me.

i have a cone filter but no aftermarket piping, and mine doesn't whistle. so that's like a good example of ruling out just the filter.

mine is a k&n filter!i don't have any piping either.just stuck the cone over my t/b. just wanted the intake sound without suckin dirt in my motor!

no dude mine DOES whistle go back and look on the first page.it does'nt whistle real bad though!
