89 Accord LX, carb This morning my battery was dead, after I jumped it, I drive to work, shutdown the engine, get off the car, and I noticed that my brake lights stayed on. So that is what drained my battery. I will do some troubleshooting when I get home, but in the meantime, any tips and advice is appreciated.

I removed the positive side, hope my battery is OK by the time that I leave work.

At break, I went out to my car to look at the brake pedal switch...there is a piece of plastic that broke, I believe is the plunger. So the switch is not being made by the pedal when it is extended. So I found the problem. Hope the local shops have it.

Lost, thanks for the info. I just called our local dealer and they carry them in stock for $3.00 dls. It is on my way home so I'll pick one up.

Thanks again,

I find it so cool how the dealers still take care of us!

FYI: So this little plunger that activates the brake lights is called Pad, Pedal Stopper. Honda P/N: 46505-SA5-000

Small bolt and 2 nuts work in a pinch.

This part is the same part used in a few models of Hondas throuh at least the 2012 model year. That is why they keep them im stock. There are some other parts that are still used though at leadt the 2012 model year, some are still in use in the 2013 model year.

The 89 manual accords use 3 of these stoppers. One at the bottom of the brake pedal, one at the bottom of the clutch pedal and one at the top of the clutch pedal for the clutch starter interlock.

even a plastic push in body clip will work fine
