Hi !

Last night someone try to stolen my friends car a '86 Toyota Corolla (I was the proudly previus owner). They hit the door and the alarm goes on, so I guess they got scared or someting and ran away. He park the car on my sidewalk just in front of my nose !!!.

My Honda doesn't have alarm yet (I plan to install one tomorrow).

My question is if someone whit other honda key can open your door and gain access to the interior ? I ask that because here in Mexico, Dodge Neon are the best stolen car, because you can open a dodge car whit other dodge key. That's pretty shitty.

Did someone tried this ?

what kinda shit is that. thats gay that you can open up ohter neons with neon keys. thats stupid. anyways i cant help. but i just manages to open my car without cars about 5 min ago. i locked them in my car when i came back from lunch. Lucky here in sunny SoCal i had my sunroof vented open. so i took a 8 foot pole and unlocked it. lucky me heh. but i would advise never to leave you sunroof open in a high crime area.

The best thing you can do is just to lock your door and keep all expensive stuff hidden or not in the car at all if possible until you can get the alarm.

I could start my Limited accord with they keys from my 86. I actually did it by accident. I was working on the limited and I wanted to run the enigne for whatever reason it was back then. Well I noticed there was no keychain and I kinda went:eek: ooh shit. I could also start my dads 88 with it too! lol

That's pretty scary that key switching works on so many different kinds of cars... Maybe I'll keep one of my 3g keys when I scrap this thing and go shopping for another one :lol

Hondas are easy to get into with a screw driver. One of two ways either they will bust a hole between the sheet metal and door handle then stick the screw driver in the nice convenient tab honda put their and unlock the door. Or they will pry out the glass and unlock the door. Both these methods are easy and fast. And the ignition is anther easy thing with the right tool. I know because someone tried to steal one of my accords.

There are people who make picks called "auto jigglers". They're guarenteed to open any car.

they had something on lockpicking, but i think it was for house door type locks, i dont know if car locks use the same mechanisms or not.

The 86-89 accords have a total of 80 different keys. Without a key I could get into your car with a door stop wedge and a hangar in about 2 seconds flat. I can do the same to a Jaguar Type S, if you know what your doing you can get into ANY car.

once I got locked out of my car so I bent the end of a metal hanger into a hook and slid it between the gaskets, hooked it on the lock and pulled the lock up. It took about 20 seconds or so once I had the hanger bent. :(

If the person wants it bad enough they get it no matter what alarm or not.....

So. I guess no way to be secure. Just have to keep an eye on it. Anyway I learn to stolen cars today.

People says: " A thief who steals another thief has 100 years of pardon" (or something like that).

I had my 89 accord broken into three times in Phoenix, AZ. Now that I have an alarm I haven't had any trouble. First two times there was no damage to the car, the third my back window was broken.

The best thing to do is shave the handles.

Lots of car manufacturers make keys alike...in some GM models, there's only 8 or 9 sets of keys. Most cars have at least several siblings whose keys are similar or identical; many are similar to thousands or hundreds of thousands. I know for a fact that the older GM and Ford trucks are pretty limited in their keysets...you could take a set of 20 (entry and ignition) unique (if there are even that many) GM keys and go into a parking lot and pick the right model truck...

I was dumb enough to lock my keys in my car while its running and it took me 5min flat to unbend a coat hanger and pop the lock

thats forever in terms of stealing, but get an alarm just to be safe!
