Picked it up recently.

1989 coupe Brittany blue green metallic. Se-i.

6726

started removing the bose system, so i can put a better system in.
requires running all new speaker wires.

changed the wheels, low is coming soon.
i have a long term goal for this, which will be a built B20 with a B16 head vtec. MAYBE boost, i dont know yet.
this wont happen for a long time, but will eventually happen.

this car is not gonna get sold like my last ca6.

Looks very nice. The wheels are a little intense for my taste but it looks clean and tight.

If your plan is never to sell it, then I would say proceed carefully with the mods. I've seen enough guys go ape crazy with mods, and end up with a car that's simply unlivable. It rides too harsh. It won't tune right. It's not reliable. It's too hard to pass smog. They get bored and tired and the car gets sold. Or never completed. Or left to rot in the back yard after it blows up. None of those outcomes is desirable. If you're excited about this car and you really like it, then don't change it. Just preserve it the way it is.

Have fun.

nice. is it a sedan or coupe?

also soon to come, some tokico blues and dropzone springs. same setup i did in my old coupe.

right now i have some POS ebay coil sleeves in it with blown struts.. that was a BAD idea. im riding in a motorized pogostick... its rather embarrassing.. lol

the dropzones wont be slammed. but will be lowered in moderation, which is good for a daily.

yeah im really impressed with it, not a single drop of oil leaks from this thing.
the power steering though is developing a leak, ill get that fixed in due time.
Theres a few things i want to change on it though, one being the leather seats, i want cloth instead.
the miata had leather too, its just to high maintenance for me.

ive drove a slammed miata for the past 3 years, so i need a change of pace.

What's the mileage on the car?

And I'm sure everyone here has leaky PS rack lol

228k.

also ran all new wires, and hooked those speakers up. sounds great. they were a really good find to save some cash.

BUT i need to tweak some things on the door speakers. the magnets stop the windows from going down all the way.

charliekuney
01-17-2015, 12:04 AM
I think if you cut out the center of the plastic baskets in the door the magnets will clear better. Most people have to do this with aftermarket front speakers.

Convenienze
01-17-2015, 01:03 PM
right now im not running baskets, as the ones that came in my car were for the bose. so thats why they are hitting.

What I understand you are saying is that you removed the part that usually hits the window and that caused them to hit? Maybe the speakers you have are just too big for the door design.

the speakers arent to big, i just need to find a 3gee in the junk yard to get some baskets off of.
this car had the bose system in it and the baskets are not the same.

i got some seats from a 91 prelude si.

they are gonna be so sweet in the car.

i also put the springs in. in combo with the tokicos my car rides so smooth now, ill take a pic or a few tomorrow after im done with the seats.
also picked up a spare air idle valve, and a spare vacuum advance for the dizzy, just in case. because you can never have enough of those things.

some pics here. yeah the front might be a little higher than the back, but it shows more in the pics than it does when you are actually standing by the car.. i tried to do the pinch fork mod, but i noticed if you cut the fork, the little indention on the shock itself wont be lined up with the bolt. any suggestions?

the seats are in, and they are FANTASTIC. i got all 4 bolts in on each seat.
swapped the outer rails, ( rails closest to the doors ) with accord rails. drilled the hole for one of the studs for each rail, because the hole is about an inch off from the seat hole.
driver side went smooth no problems at all.
passenger side i had to shim the rail from the seat with some washers, because it sat lopsided.
the outer rails didnt line up at all, so i persuaded them to line up, and they did.
passenger seat slide is a little tight because i made it fit, but its fine.

I LIKE A LOT! The front look higher because the wheel arch is higher in the front than in the back. The prelude seats are always a great upgrade.

Sweet car! Can't wait till my 86 is ready to come out of the garage. How low is the drop and what size tires are you running? I'm indecisive and having a hard time with what size tire/wheels to run on mine, but I know I want K-Sport coilovers. $1300 coilovers on a car I gave $300 for but hay it's a Honda 👍

thanks guys.
the springs are 2.5 drop. sprint springs, i got them from a local guy on here guaynabo89.

wheel / tire specs are.

15x8 +25 wheels.
195/50zr15 tires.

eventually ill be running some coilovers, but im not sure what ones yet.

Nice work with the seats.

I just forced the pinch fork bolt and it would 'indent' or rather thread through the shock housing just fine. I gained about 1/2" from that and its all good.

but the first thing motor wise ill be doing is obd1 swap, and tuned with chrome.
ive got a buddy that will tune it for me.

MessyHonda

obd1 swap was the best mod you can do for the a20. I had mine dyno tuned and it was so much fun with the teg gears b16 mani and exhuast.

so im gonna just sell the avids and let the future buyer know he can swp them for another wheel set, if he doesnt already know.

Funny thing is that they look almost like the stock 89 lxi wheels.

Are they offset? How wide are they?

Convenienze
03-06-2015, 11:17 AM
yeah ive always thought they look like the lxi wheels.

they are 16x8.5 32 offset, but when i put adapters on they will be lower offset, which is what im aiming for.

volvo lip, incomplete at the moment.
perfect length for facelift bumper, but does require some modification.
ziptied on at the moment, i will be bolting it on soon.
its pretty damn big, scrapes on almost everything.
and my neighbors sei sedan in the background.

YEAAAAHH buddy.

got my adapters.

4x100 to 5x120.7 2 piece. 1.5 inch total thickness.
they came with all the bolts to hold the 2 pieces together. and the center bore has a interlocking lip.

ill be getting tires asap and throwing these on.

final offset with be +5.5. unless i need to add a spacer on the 4x100 side. i shouldnt need to.

test fit on one of my wheels on the rear.
the fender is sitting ON the tire, it needs one hell of a pull lol.
suspension doesnt even fully compress because its still sitting on the tire.
No im not driving it with them on it yet.

You're gonna have to pull some decent negative camber though.

im gonna try not to.
if i cant get them to fit right im just gonna sell them and get something else.

Are those wheels off a C4 'Vette? How'd you get those to work?

Very slick ride, BTW.

Convenienze
07-24-2015, 03:24 AM
ive got the adapters posted on page 2.
but yes those are c4 wheels
i had to put 10mm spacers on, instead of cutting the studs, but in the front the spacers are needed.
the clearance between my front adapters and brake caliper is less than a quarter coin in clearance.

rear fenders are rolled and pulled.
195-45-16 tires.
final specs are 16x8.5 -15

I think that -2 camber you will like. I run that on stock height.

i will drill them out to get it down to 0 camber in the front. my goal is to not lose surface area when im running on a built motor. and it will also make my tires last longer..

my rears are still -4.0 on both sides. i will leave the rear camber, but i dont want it in the front.

So, ive had these oem bosh fog lights for a while now, but i also found some Marchal fog lights yesterday at the junk yard aswell.
here are the pics of them, im not sure which set i want to use.
the Marchal fit better in the holes so i think ill use those.
