i never said they were fast....i said they were quick........and yea ive actually ridin in a supercharged si.....kid was runnin 9 pounds of boost and he took me out when it was kinda slick out, he couldnt get traction all the way into 4th gear.....it was pretty nasty, but back to the hatch, who cares if he dosnt have a cai or header, maybe hes gettin one in a lil bit, dont forget that a motor swap isnt cheap, and it does look like the car was repainted too, along with rims, thats pretty steep, id take a stock b16 any day tho........

A 99-00 Civic SI with it's 170hp B17A and 2500-2600lbs vs a 160hp B16a and 2300lbs should be able to equal the SI's times
0-60 in 7.2 sec Some of us dream that our 3rd gen accord could do that. Most ALL of us definately don't do that right now.

1999 Civic SI coupe= 2612lbs
1999 Civic DX Hatch=2388lbs

Compaired to the SI all hatch's are lighter.
Compaired to a DX coupe at 2359lbs then they weigh about the same.

The SI has a higher specific content so it weigh's more, but at 100lbs over a EX coupe I have to wonder what's causing the weight penelty? Heavier motor?

They seem to know honda owners to the point. :barf: It makes me sick that you guys even bitch about the difference between a B16 w/o headers and CAI and a B16 WITH headers and a CAI, or how your friends car is sooooo fast that it could beat any B series engines, yada yada. I know I own a 3rd gen and I love it and put all my time and money into it but let me put it this way, no matter how much time and effort I put into my car, it will ALWAY be slow, civics are in the same class with the exception of a few with some really fixed up LS V-tecs and draged out b18s or 20s. A 250 hp civic ISN'T a fast car, even a 300 hp civic is pretty slow. And it must be so cool!! :lol ....If you beg to differ, race a Nissan w/ a fixed Ka26 (maybe) or SR20DET and they'll show you fast.

I'm really starting to believe that Hondas were really only designed to LOOK good, and LOOK fast. Even the Japanese that make the damn things dont race them in Pro Series either track or drag with the exception of the NSX and RSX, cause even they know that these cars are slow. Thats my rant, and I dont give a damn if you think differently. :321:

NO SHIT my "mods" are pathetic, I drive a 3rd gen so it must be for looks :rolleyes: , its in there primarily for the day I sell my car to someone who thinks its a decent buy, really the only way to get any power out of a car like ours is to do a complete swap per say a B16a or B18c so why would I go out and drop a 160 hp 1st gen/170 hp 2nd gen B16a1 into my accord for like $2400 for the engine plus another $1000 for the install. When I can get a 240sx, and an 255 hp Turboed SR20DET for the same price plus the price of my car. I would love to race any one of the 11 or 12 second accords on here, with a basic T3/T4 turbo swap onto the sucker it would be pushing 450 hp and thats w/o any internal work with all parts from Nismo, Trust, HKS (who has their own line of products specifically for the SR20DET). I would love to see a Civic pull that much power.

I would love to have a 95-98 240sx. But stock, their to slow. I hate turbo's so the SR20 is out, beside's I've seen what's involved, what a pain, no thanks on 2 front's, Plus I'd have to worry about the California DMV as that powerplant was never imported. Their isn't a simple all motor solution, I'd love it if I could put in a vg30 for less than $3k. One thing that really cooled my interest was taking a test drive in a 95 240sx this summer. Framless door's offten have air leaks, this car did, really bad and around 3500rpm's the whole dash sang a wonderfull buzz song that I would never accept or put up with. Nice (underpowered) car to drive, and a great chassis, but,........

Wow, i must be such an idiot there, for a second gen complete B16a from JDMHondaparts is $2400...there we go, I must be making shit up. Now I suppose if I want to buy a discounted used motor off of ebay, I guess I could go do so for reasonably cheaper, but I'm comparing a complete motor from JDMHondaParts.com to a complete motor from SRswap.com both of which are real prices which are straight from their sights.

BTW, the SR20DET is swapped pretty frequently so there are plenty of resources and info for dropping the SR20 which would make it swappable by the owner, not to mention the engine bolts right into the same mounts as the stock motor and the B16 needs custom welded mounts to fit into our cars. The additional power, same price and the fact that it comes with a 6 speed tranny is enough for me to go for one over a B16. So shut the fuck up fool before i roll up and stick a double sun in your face. :ego:

SR20DET's dont come with 6 speeds. My best friend is ordering one next week for about $2400 and is looking to spend about $4000 total to fix it up a bit with a slightly bigger turbo. He is aiming for about 230-260 hp. I am postive that they come with 5 speeds, at least in the older ones (his is a 91). he can get a 6 speed, but it will run him about another $2000 just for that so we figured it wasnt worth the money. Get your facts striaght!!

I double checked and I stand corrected, they don't come with them, unless it is a 99+ S15 SR20DETs, my mistake, however the extra price for a 6 speed isn't too unreasonable, I talked to Yury at Heavy Throttle and the price for a 6 speed is only $1500 from them.

Just curious, why would your friend be aiming for only 260 hp out of an SR20 w/ a bigger turbo when they run 255 stock at 14-15 psi?
