as above. I am having a lot of trouble getting the gearbox back on the a20 engine after replacing the clutch.

just some info:
-the gearbox is the same as before and i havent changed anything to the gearbox
-the clutch fits the imput shaft
-the clutch is centered, not randomly installed

I currently have it fitted with three too long bolts to keep it on its place but it somehow just doesnt want to pop in. so is there some trick to it? I've never had so much trouble fitting a gear box before

The shaft and clutch splines aren't perfectly lined up. Turn the engine a bit, wiggle the transmission and it will work.

Use a piece of 2x4 as leverage pushing it while someone wiggles the tranny. There's a trick I used a couple times. Having a good jack and hoist make it much easier too. Good luck!

I struggled with mine for a couple days before breaking down and buying a proper trans jack (800 lb. Low Lift Transmission Jack (http://www.harborfreight.com/800-lb-low-lift-transmission-jack-69685.html)). If you don't have the shaft and clutch plate aligned perfectly, and I mean perfectly, the trans will jam and not seat. With the jack, I was able to do micro adjustments until it was aligned correctly, then it slid right in place. The wiggling and swearing availed me nothing.
