Is it possible to hav crossovers linked to ure midrange/6x9's from the amp???
what i mean is can i hav the deck running a 4 channel amp and the amp connected to 2 crossovers which are then connected to the rear speakers...(aswell as 2 subs)

amp------>crossovers----->Rear R and Rear L

2subs

IS THIS POSSIBLE?
Cos this will stop te bass going to the mids which means u got treble in the car and the bass in th boot, makes it louder.
Otherwise the bass is put to the mids too and u cant turn the bass up cos it will blow the mids.
Do u get what i mean?

you should be able to do that. I dont think it matters if the power is coming from the decks amp or an external amp.

as long you have amp set for full pass and let the crossover do the job. yeah it is possible.

cheers guys, but i thought of another way, just turn the bass way down on the deck and the GAIN way up on the amp then the power is only going to the sub and not the midrange, but this only works if the midrange are not connected to the amp and only to the deck.!
Thanx anywayz.

ohhh, you may want to ease up on gain control. too much and you may putt some damage to your speakers.

you could just get rid of the 6x9s and just run a 6 1/2 component kit youll be surprised at how good it sounds. Good kits make it sound like you have rear fill when you dont, and having just the front speakers enhances your soundstaging and imaging and simplifies your wiring and install... just my .02

but does that component kit give good bass?

components give good mids but not bass. For it to work best you need a sub... a single 10 would do.

go to your local car audio shop, and ask for some BASS BLOCKERS, they go in line with the speaker cable and block unwanted bass, you can get them for either 6x9's or 6.5" or 3.5"s they only cost like 10 dollars

yeah thats the cheapest and most headache free way to clean up your sound at times, esp with really small speakers like 4" and smaller

i had bass blockers for about 2 weeks, than i riped them out. they are for shit. just set your crossover so you cut the bass for main speakers.

Why didnt you like the bass blockers? I am getting 6.5 inch three ways for the front of my car and am moving the sucky 6.5 jensen 2 ways to the back for filler, I was going to get bass blockers so the fronts wont distort as they do now when the stereo is cranked. I tried turning the bass down and using the features to send the low frequencies to the back but they still distort alot. Since my front speakers are only powered by a pioneer 50X4 head unit would bass blockers be a bad decision?

bass blockers will not work if you hook them up to the (-) wire going to the speaker
