the rubber dampers fit below the surface plane of the mount.

the rubber dampers fit above the surface plane of the mount
the 90 mounts would offer increased travel of the strut rod because the rod would be expanded further using the 90 mount over the 87 mount. big problem is that the mounting bolts of the 90 mount, while they share the same triangular pattern with the 87 mount, are about 4" center of bolt to center of bolt while the 87 are 3 1/2" center to center. Any ideas?
