the rubber dampers fit below the surface plane of the mount.

the 90 mounts would offer increased travel of the strut rod because the rod would be expanded further using the 90 mount over the 87 mount. big problem is that the mounting bolts of the 90 mount, while they share the same triangular pattern with the 87 mount, are about 4" center of bolt to center of bolt while the 87 are 3 1/2" center to center. Any ideas?

If you were to install them and when the sturt is installed to, will you still have enough clearance to close the hood?

One question I've got is if the round dome at the center of the 4th gen mount will fit into the 3rd gen opening on the car and let the mount itself be flush when it's bolted in.

I'd think that their would not be enough metal between the original mounting holes and the new one's to just drill a hole hurther out to accomidate new mounting holes. I'd think you'd want to drill new holes between the old 3rd gen hole's. But that would be more difficult cause you'd need them to be exact. Maybe you can create a drilling template using the 4th gen strut mount to trace onto paper where the center is and where each bolt is and place that onto your car and drill. Just a thought.
