View Full Version : Air diversion damper

So maybe this isn't a problem but... It seems I have constant vacuum to the air diversion damper. In other words, I always see that this thing is closed when the engine is running and I'm fiddling under the hood. Temps are getting in to the mid 80's now. Maybe I don't totally understand how this thing functions but I feel like it should open when the engine warms up, especially with higher ambient temperature. Doesn't seem to have any effect on the way the car runs. Smooth and 30 or more mpg consistently. Any ideas? Thought about the little two way valve thingy (technical term) that the vacuum hose is connected to. Other than that, I'm at a loss. Ryan

It's supposed to be thermostatically controlled to close when cold and open when warm. One of our members wired his permanently closed and saw a 20% improvement in gas mileage.
