So my EGR is shot. '89 Auto SEI

I remember reading somewhere, not here -- but can't remember where, that you could actually disable the EGR?? Is there any advantage to that? I don't have emissions in Florida. Any one try it?? Just curious.

If this is not an option -- $150 is about the cheapest I have seen it for. Anyone have any suggestions for better pricing.

It looks pretty simple to swap out -- any caviets?? Do I need to replace anything else when I am doing that...

Thanks

Is it stuck open?

if so you should replace it...
If not I think you can disconnect the vacuum line and plug the line, that will disable it. No need to plug the valve though.
I don't know how that will effect the ecu though.

Oh and on my sei motor I ended up striping the nuts... the valve is on there pretty tight.

it reburns the air fuel mixture which has a cooling effect I think, but it is also supposed to lower emissions.

I've notticed #4 cylinder is the leanest when i check my plugs... I guess thats why they chose #4 cylinder for the EGR placement.

it's four on the stock manifold, and looks like on the DC it's four, but if I remember right it's 3 on the pacesetter, pacesetter has a tube that runs to 3 I think.
