Will $1000 get me all this?

This summer I want to put new Struts and lowering springs, new tires and new rims on my car.

I'm wondering if $1000 would be enough for all of this stuff, or just what some of it would cost me.

I don't really see that happening but then again it depends on exactly what you want.....you would have to go with cheap everything, like don't expect to get eibach or sprint lowering springs. My wheels and tires were 1500$ alone, then again they are 18's......you may be able to pull it off with some cheap 15's or 16's

heres my run down:

lowering springs + tokico struts - $100 (bought slightly used from a guy that used to come on here but totalled his car)

17" bsa white six spoke rims - $440 (off of ebay.com)

205/40 kuhmo ecsta supra tires - $330 (from tirerack.com)

total - $870

so, to answer your question yes, most definetly.....

hehe, well, i guess I should explain. I'm up here in Canada, and our $ is not doing so hot. For $1000 here, you are not hooking all that up, lol

new+new+new+new+labor= $1200-1400...

The cheapest you can find struts is around $250... new... the springs you could find (depending on the drop) would be anywhere from $80-140 for decient ones and close to $200 for a good set...(new) tires are also dependant on size but 205/40-17's will run you new around $350 and rims will vairy... anywhere from $125- 170 per/rim.. for a decient set of enkei's or Motgei's... so you are looking at around $1250 apporx. with out the install of the springs which can be a little costly... I would suggest discounttiredirect.com for the rims/tires... because you get free shipping plus if you buy the rims/tires together they will mount them for free....

Definitely do your own labor. Just get a haynes manual which can be picked up anywhere and get a friend and make a day of it.

with suspension you get what you pay for.

I have Ground Controls - $325 - VERY happy with

Tokico Struts - 230- front end bouncies

Definitely get the Koni Specials.

Don't forget about shipping cost for the rims and tires....them alone shipping those two will run about an extra $100. But yeah, it can be done.....check out www.wheelmax.com they have great prices on rims and tire packages, always a clearance section. Go check it out.

Well i bought my doilovers for $200 cad and i also got my strts for $100 cad rims and tires were over 1000 for tires and over 3600 for rims

How much would: rear Koni Specials and H&R springs cost me?

Then I was going to hit up ebay for either some lighter weight 16's or 17's or some 16 inch chrome wheels like on Mike's 89 White Accord coupe.

Stupid me I totally forgot selling you my revalved Bilstien's. You changed your sig picture and that threw me:rolleyes: . Anyway's you can get the H&R's at www.optauto.com for $149 and the rear koni's from either www.shox.com or www.tirerack.com $212

Remember if you wanted to run something stiffer, like ground-controls I had the Bilstein's valved to more than handle that.

190 per pair... i have them and they are tight... real stiff and no bounces at all... i have had Koni's and GC's b4 and they arent bouncy at all compared to them... a little stiffer, but very nice...

Jim, do you know if those H&R's give a 1.5" drop or more like a 2" or 2.25" drop? I read that some on here said it dropped a lot lower than it said it would... and I find that desirable. Do you think I should look to buy some used that give that bigger drop, or will the new ones do that still?

The H&R's (which I had) give a true 1.5" drop. The springs your thinking about are the B&G's that mark has. Their supposed to be a 1.6" drop, so his drop actually means something is wrong with the springs (he was talking about making a warranty claim on them at one time). If you want more than a 1.5" drop I'd go with the Suspension Techniques speed tech 2" drop springs from www.nopionline.com for $97 and for a second choice I'd go with the Progress Group 2" drop springs from www.optauto.com for $129. Justanothermike, from openloopmotorsports is running the progress group springs btw.

Ah... the great internal debate: whether I just want the car low looking, or whether I want it awesome handling. Gosh... this is always so hard... I'm glad I've got a few months to go before I slap down any cash for anything :D
