prevent rust buildup

how can i prevent rust buildup on my beautiful universal stainless steel muffler? there is no rust yet, but i just would like to maintian a pimp look. :pimp:

i really dont know a whole lot about rust, just cause i dont have any :D but i guess if you polished it with metal polish, it would probably last longer...just a thought! hope that helps...:)

I have this stainless steel cleaner that I got from my work and it works nice to polish it and it protects from rust. It's this industrial stuff. I think it's mainly for sinks and stuff like that.

Oh and wash your car once a week if your in a snowy area. That's what I do at least.

well lately ite been POORING RAIN here. And the wet conditions are sucky, especially when I use the FREEWAY some of the time. The last 2 times ive used the freeway, was when its been POORING AND DRIPPING WET. Im just worried that its gonna start up. Ive washed my car like 4 times isnce ive had my muffler, wich is very good, cause i havent had it for longer then 2 months.

I've had mine for 6 months and no rust.

Stainless steel doesnt rust! If you remove the shiny coating from it (hitting it with the high fire of a welder will do this) those areas will rust. BUt other then that, it isnt going to rust.

It will just get dirty and get a residue type shit on it but thats it... just take it to the car wash, and then use a rag and wipe the crap off of it, and u should be straight with that, thats what I used to do and it worked fine for me... I've had mine for about a year and a half but no rust on the muffler, just the muffler support that I had to buy seperate for my aftermarket exhaust... hope that Help bro... Lataz
