howto clean parts and keep from rusting?

i have a bunch of rusted fasteners - like the bolts, clips, and plates that hold the bumper cover on - and other things like door hinges, hood hinges, and seat rails that rust.

if sandblasting / powdercoating can fix the bigger parts, what about the smaller ones? will acid bath do it?

Crazy as it sounds I use Diesel fuel. Its pretty mild,it cleans ok,its non haz so its easy to get rid of, and it coats your parts so they don't rust,

I have some in a 5 gallon bucket in my garage all the time.

What, you guys don't want to spend hours and hours with a wire toothbrush, carefully detailing every little screw? That's why this country is in trouble!

Ive used naval jelly to remove rust then prime it and paint it again. i just spray it with wd-40 or pb blaster for the smaller stuff
