Hi, first time posting on this forum and I have a quick question for you guys. I am wanting to make my b20a3 fuel injected and just happened to find a guy selling a 1987 accord lxi for $375 on Craigslist. He had sent the head off to get it reconditioned and have yet to put it back on yet, not sure what happened but for the price seems like a pretty good deal. Car is beat up pretty good but I'm thinking it would have everything I need to make my car fuel injected. From my research I would also have a bump in hp if I just decided to swap the whole engine over. Will this work? Am I going to be able to use the a20a or the fuel injection from this car?

Thanks!

Josh

Also if this does happen I will share my project with this community! I wouldn't have bought the carb prelude but I just couldn't pass it up, it was un modded and very well taken care of car with no rust at all. So far I have replaced all coolant hoses, radiator, belts, timing chain, water pump, tensioner, radiator fan switch, plugs wires, distributor, and a fresh oil change with filter. This car runs so smooth and I like it for what it is now but my intention was to swap in a more modern engine eventually. I haven't decided yet, and with this recent discovery of the accord for sale modding the a20a engine might not be a bad alternative.

If your Lude has an a20a1 block (carbed), then yes, the mounts will be the same. You will have to swap the whole block, wire harness, & computer etc-- not just the head. Transmissions may require additional bracketing if you are going from manual to auto or vice versa.

No my motor is a b20a3 carbed. I'm thinking I will just toy with this motor and see what I get.

I believe the intake ports are square right? Is this the twin carbed B20? If so I don't think efi conversion is going to work unless you can find a way to get the intake manifold to work

Hell ya! Stick with the b20. You have wider aftermarket support...turbo manifolds and the like. I recommend a cam regrind, headers, and weber38 for starters.

The whole A20 engine won't fit without a lot of work too. It's just not worth it. Easier to find a fuel injected B20 and its efi parts too

Yes I have decided to stick with this motor. For now I will drive it stock so I can save some money for my first mods. What mods would be best just starting out? I guess it's obvious to do intake, headers, and exhaust but with this being dual carbs I honestly don't know where I would start. The weber upgrade sounds good, so how does it help out just because it's a better design or flow? My ultimate goal is an all out build from top to bottom so the mods that I do go with I want them to be relevant down the road. Looking for a fun ride with a little more power, not looking to be a hardcore racer. This is also going to be a learning experience for me, I'd like to build more motors down to he road.

I have not ever seen the dual carbs/ intake that you have, only heard & read of it in my chilton. If you could post a pic, I can give you some help.

The main reason I purchased a WEBER32/36 was to go from 50,000 vacuum lines to just one vac advance & optional EGR port & this is the only carb that comes in a package with the adapters needed for our cars.
Nowadays, you can buy just the WEBER adapter sets specially made for our cars ~$50-75.

Then I sent a wrecking yard cam in for regrind & bought bisi springs, and decided it would make more sense to upgrade to a WEBER 38, since WEBER tells you that the 32/36 isn't good for mods like headers, cams, porting, turbo/super.

Then I saw a quad carb custom manifold for our cars that someone made with GSXR600 1990s carbs (see youtube). The reason its 90s & not 2000 is because they switched to carb +Fuel injection with computer controls, its a hybrid & that won't work. But now I am going draw through supercharged-- so this would not be practical unless I found blow through bike carbs & went blow through.

If your carbs are side mounted, you could switch to 2x WEBER DCOE Side draft carbs-- these are super boss & will give you max fuel-- but not practical unless you do the cam, headers, and any other lean mods.
