Okay, I'm not an accord owner, but I'm researching this for the sake of my brother. (I searched the FAQ but I didn't see any topics that address my issues)

His 87 lxi occassionally throws a check engine light. When (even though it's rare) that my Prelude throws a check-engine, I can go into the passenger footwell, remove the floormat, pull down a little flap, and count the blinks that are emitted by the ECU. A very clever way to do it. I went over to my brother's car and look in the same place...nothing. No flap.

My question is did honda include a way to check trouble codes on this model of car? Or is the only option taking it into some shop who has a tester?

Thanks guys.

under the driver seat is the ECU and the little flap with the LED light is there.

"FLAP"..thank you. That's the word I'm always looking for when ppl ask about checking the ECU. I always end up with "window" instead :D
