What is D3 for? i try not to use it much cuz people say it hurts the car...when im flooring it the car tends to slow down a bit at around 80 so i use D3 to get up a bit further.

Auto trans have 4 speed, and D3 means 3rd speed.
when i was driving my friends 3geez with auto i used D3 on the mountains. it will not shift past 3rd gear. so you can rev your engine as much as you can but it won't shift.

Its for when you hit the NAWZ button, you put it in D3, you instantly go 115 mph with a 20 shot.

Nate.

For most people D3 is for engine-braking down long hills so you don't have to ride the brakes.

For others, D3 is life when your 4th gear violently shakes your car.

I usually put it in D3 if I am just driving around town where I won't get over 40 or 50 mph. O/D is good on the highway for mileage but not really much help in town.

that D3 is realy good going down mountains in west virginia. i saw a truck that over heated its brakes because it didnt use its lower gear. thats why its nice to have this D3 feature on our autos. oh ya, that truck crashed cuz it couldnt stop. and for the 2, thats for slippery surfaces and i find is good for going up steep inclines while gradualy accelerating.

If I drive an auto with 4 speed, I usually drive in D3 when I'm goind slower than 45 mph and D4 would be for anything faster.

usually in hilly areas they put those run-offs on the side of the roads with gravel piles at the end so that doesn't happen. your super hilly roads don't have those?

i know they have 2 of those things on the MT i go over to go snowboarding about once a week, but there is only one 1/2 up one side, and another 1/2 way up the other side. so, you either have to hold on till you hit it, or if you lose it after that, hold it out till the bottem.
