Hi All,

Great forum! I was recently gifted a somewhat rundown 87 Accord (Australia/NZ model). I'm in the process getting it to run as sweetly as possible on a limited budget.

One thing that stands out for comfort, is the dam 100km warning beep. Living in the country, all driving is basically at 105-110km so it becomes a constant noise.

A search didnt turn up much other than this link (http://www.3geez.com/forum/3geez-accords/1641-60-mph-beeeeeeeeeeb.html).

My guess is it must be possible to just discount the horn that emits the beep - if I can find it. Or is there more to this feature.... Anyone actually done this?

Where are you in nz ?
If the noise comes from the back of the instruments , take them out and you'll prob find you can just unscrew it from the back of the cluster.
Or drive at 110kmh for long enough and it will die .

I've never heard of this warning feature before, and definitely never heard it in my 88 Accord LX-i. I wonder if the feature was only on cars sold in certain countries.

My NZ-new Accord doesn't have the warning, but it could be in part because it's got a manual transmission. Gary1001 hasn't specified, but I suspect that it is an automatic model.

I've never heard of a 100kmh warning. Mind you my Accord is really the oldest car I've driven, apart from an old Vauxhall Viva from the 70s, whose electrics were limited to the ignition.

disconnecting the beeper will also disconnect the beeper that lets you know the headlights are still on, its on the back of the gauge cluster, just remove it.
