brake booster

anyone know if a brake booster from a 94 integra with the type number "nm 290v-2" is compatible with a 86 accord lxi f/i with the type number nm "230v-1".i got one for $20 at a junk yard.

and why would you get a brake booster for a teg? why not just get a accord one? do you think it will give you more hp cuz its from a TEG?

no i dont think that an integra booster will gain hp, i got it because it is newer it is in great shape compared to the rest of the boosters in the junk yard where i got it. i just figured that honda makes hondas and honda makes acuras, so the parts might be interchangeable.

yeah, but what i want to know is if the "290v" on the booster from the integra, and the "230v" from the booster that is on my accord is a big difference and is okay to use or not

If it has the same outside dimentions it should be fine. The only possible difference is that it may give a little different brake feel. Since it only helps compress the master cylinder, it won't affect how your brake actually work.

Put it this way. Your silly old foot can't apply enough pressure to stop your car. The brake booster applies the additional pressure to your calipers to stop the car.

DXHATCHBACK is correct, it uses the engine vacuum to do this.

i'll take a guess....if the cylinder is slightly bigger on teg booster....i'd guess the numbers may represent maximum force developed by the vacuum piston...i:e ...teg =290lbf of vacuum??????....just a guess

well before we go swapping parts from other cars, lets make sure it really does work cuz this IS THE BRAKES WE'RE TALKING ABOUT.....

when they fail... you'll find out the hard way..... try not to kill yourself eh :(

anyone know of anything i could use to cover the hole with, the brake booster works, it just has a hole in it and causes the car to idle incorrectly

interesting.... maybe some kind of rubber patch, like a bicycle tire patch heavy duty....
like for an automotive inner tube or something with rubber glue.

it has to be flexible.......

I think you could find something to rig er' up with.... that would save alot of money eh......
