I just got my 3g (prelude) and i want to put an exhaust system on it at some point. I am torn as to whether or not I should do this since the car has an automatic transmission. I just wanted to know what you guys think the rice factor is in doing this. i know it is really ridiculous on some cars.
thanks

i think it sounds real werd! just make it soooo loud that u can barly tell... there is a 99 Lude in town with straight pipes after the cat... it is an auto... sounds real good unless he doesnt get on it hard... he uses the tiptronic so it revs up like a stick and lets of when he shifts so it sounds like a stick...

Well really if you put a exhaust and new piping or even a cat back it will increase power in any car. But it depends on the car on how hp u get > Just think a full exhaust would help on a kia Ha ha

one of my friends has an 88 crx and he just got a 3" catback with dynomax super turbo muffler, he spent $170 total and it sounds really nice (i dont know why he went with 3" those are usually meant for cars with turbos if im not mistaken) but yeah it sounds pretty cool i like it.

I got an exhaust on mine, and it sounds good, but could be way better if it was standard. I'm hoping to get it swapped sometime soon anways.............

I'am auto and have exhaust but there is no emissions in Edmonton so it is pretty loud without a cat.

The big fuss people make when you stick an exhaust on an auto is that you can't rev your car high enough to make use of larger diameter piping.

This isn't true, at least not on our cars. With the exception of first gear you can hit 9k everytime if you wanted to.

I've had an exhaust shop tell me I'm only going to be able to use 2.0" I told him I wanted 2.50" then settled for 2.25" just because I was only doing cat-back and I didn't want to argue. Later I upgraded everything to 2.50", but the size that gets used the most on our cars is 2.25".

yeah It doesnt matter if your car is auto or stick... Im auto and I have a 2.25inch catback piping with a dynomax muffler and it sounds great.

Yeah B 4 I crashed my 89 Accord LX-i I had installed a bro speed exhaust system in it, and it was auto... it was loud, but it didn't sound like a stick... lets just say it was different, sound wise that is... Lataz
