Just went from 185/70R13's to 195/70R14's on steel rims..

It looks fuckin weird

They're a good 1.5-2" taller I'd say. Each one was about 5 pounds more than stock

My speedometer is spot-on now, gotta say that felt great finding that out. Think I need to adjust pressures though, I'm feeling way too much road through the steering wheel. Handling is much better, but oh my god I feel like I'm in a lifted truck, brought the car off the ground a tiny bit!

Haha yeah, I like it. I guess my goal is to get a tiny bit of performance while keeping the stock boring look so I don't stand out. Not a sleeper, just a car I can have a little fun with, without looking like I'm up to no good. So far it's coming along nicely!

Was 185/70R13 the standard size on 86 LX'i' Accords? The standard size on 88 LX-i coupes, like mine, is 195/60R14.

get some shallow beauty rings, paint the rims, and add center caps and they will look much better

Yeah I've read the LXi's were supposed to come with 14" rims, but when I got the car it was on 17's, and the only other rims it came with were the 13" steelies on studded tires. (I sold the 17's to make some money back) The 14" Alloys must have been thrown out when the PO got aftermarket rims, sad. These feel much better now though (and I don't bottom out at all).

lostforawhile do you know where I could find said beauty rings and caps? Otherwise yeah that sounds great, I'll look around!

the center caps, look on ebay, they came on a bunch of different Honda stuff, just search Honda center cap, most CRX's came with them. I wish I could remember who I got my stainless beauty rings from, you have to search under beauty rings front wheel drive, or shallow beauty rings. Early Honda had beauty rings and caps standard on steelies. standard beauty rings for rear wheel drive offsets won't work as the wheel dish is much deeper

this might be the company, I need to measure the depth on mine to see if it's the same. Trim Rings Solid Stainless Steel Beauty Rings Polished to Chrome Luster (http://hubcapmike.com/2in-trim-rings-beauty.html)

ignore the crappy lug nuts, my good ones will go on when the wheels are on for good, same as the tires, I'm going to put on tiger paws with the white letters,

those are from a geo storm I believe, one of the geo series, they are 14, I picked them because they look like early Honda steelies

weird how now your speedo is correct switching from 185/70r13 to a 195/70r14 about a 1.5" difference like you saw. 195/60r14 would be closer. Stick with the 14's if you decide to upgrade the brakes, the later model 3rd gens brakes only fit with 14's. Feels like your in a truck with it raised about 0.8" or so.

Yeah it feels weird. I have some 89' front brakes I plan on swapping over, maybe sei rear disc someday.

And look, I can clear curbs now! No more hitting the tow hook

in the long run you may want to consider ditching the 14" and picking up a set of 15" wheels. Options are becoming limited for 14's if your looking at upgrading. I switched from my SEI 14" set to a 15 x 8 set. noticeable improvement in handling and shaved some weight.

Yeah it looks great! Love those first gen civics, rebuilt a 1200 once, great experience!

And yes I go back and forth with 14s and 15s. In the end I went with these because I wanted the taller wheel overall, a tiny bit wider, and to not stand out so I can drive like a shithead without drawing too much attention haha. I really want some TRMotorsport C1's though, that's what I'd get if I had money to

The C1's aren't a bad lightweight rim and not very expensive. Had mine for a few years now, no complaints here.

Awesome! Yeah I think they look fantastic on the 3g.

Also though, I found these yesterday, even lighter and don't look too bad, just $10 more per rim

My 3gee had 99/2000 Civic Si wheels on it. 15x6, wearing 205/50R15s. Next time I do wheels and tires on a 3gee, I'm going for at least a 225 series tire.

they look good, as a word of advise for a daily, don't go with the lightest rim possible. As far as ive noticed, lighter the rim, weaker it may be

i dont know if it will fit on a 15x6 rim with out getting a smaller profile. usually the honda boys run 15x8 to run 225/50R15
