When ever i start my car it revs all the way to 3000RPM and after about 7-10 seconds it drops to 800RPM. What makes the engine rev up like that? Thanx for the help!

Its high idle to get the juice going! Its for cold climate conditions to keep the RPMS high..its normal..dont touch it.

hey, just be thankfull you don't have a carb in the cold weather. Both my cars take about 5 minutes at that rediculous high (2K-3K) rpm range before they even think about dropping.

the essence, the fuel you buy, has water in it. Trust me. Change it now !!!

My car did sit about 4 months on the same 1/4 tank until my motor was changed. Could that be a problem?

If its not spitting and sputtering then you are fine. There is no water in the fuel and a high idle in no way means that there is water in the fuel. If its sputtering and doesnt want to go when you stomp on it or it sounds like it has a miss, thats water in the fuel.

Gas ignites..water doesnt.....put 2 and 2 together about the symptoms.
