If this is in the wrong area, mods feel free to move it.

I am in the process of swapping an a20a1 from an 88 accord into my 82 prelude, and i am desperately searching for a way to convert the a20 transmissions cable output into an electronic signal for the purpose of converting to a more modern cluster. Specefically from a 4th gen prelude.
Has anyone else searched and had any luck finding ways to do this?

Inside the cluster, there's a reed switch on the speedometer that clicks every time the cable makes a revolution. You should be able to salvage that part of the old cluster and build a converter circuit to give you VSS. If the donor Accord was an LX, said circuit already exists inside the cluster.

Okay it is, thats awesome thank you! I have the entire vehicle for a donor rather than just a pulled motor, luckily.

Speedometer 8K Pulse Generator (http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=109/prd109.htm)

There better ones just for Hondas I just cant find the links atm.

Also I have seen some GPS based speedos too.

if you search converting to OBD1 they have some VSS speedo write up. If you are going to convert wouldn't it be easier to convert to the 4th gen accord VSS and just plug it up to your new cluster. we also have a write up on how to install a s2000 cluster into a 3gee. I believe legendmaster made the thread on that
