Does anyone know why my 86 dx hatchback came with a bs engine, or a bt in the lxi. why were these engines only used for one year? Aren't the b series usually closer related to the jdm engines? I noticed from the engine charts that most of the b series engines are eithier jdm or later model. I have a theory that since the car was completly redesigned in 86, maby the first engine was a variant of the jdms.

its not a B series exactly...

its not an A20 series either... but the parts are complatible to a certain degree... most are... so all the 2 liter accord 3gens are called A20... yes they were named BS and BT but i think they just decided to change the name and make a whole new line of motors... i also think that is when they started the Series Letter then the Number

A20
A18
B16
B18
B20
F22
H22

get it?

Travis Your picture is missing, and I painted the h red, I really don't see too many of these particular ones.

We do have something that the later b series doesn't have, we've got a closed deck design. that means stronger cyl. walls. vs. the open deck design.
