I replaced a seemingly defective clutch cable on my 86dx a couple weeks ago only to discover that it was actually the cable mounting bracket near the pedal assembly that had snapped. So far I've had limited success in sourcing a replacement--all the junkyards I've contacted in the state (GA) don't seem to have any 3Gs anymore. If anyone knows of a source (or a part number to order online), I would be grateful.

My preference would be to replace it, but welding/reinforcing may be an option. Either way, I need to remove the existing bracket. The consensus seems to be that dropping the steering column is the easiest way to accomplish this (following auto->5spd swap guides).

Any advice would be appreciated.

The likely hood of finding another used one and not taking a chance on it too... fixing what you've got I would think is best. Can make sure it's done right. You're going to take it off one way or the other. Only difference is maybe down time on car and work involved.
