Hey Socal3rdgen post some pics of yours. It's like a 6 hour job. I'd suggest getting a spare set so you don't have to rush to get them done. I think they're worth it.

Yeah it's good to know what you're going to be doing before diving into it. (I learned from the headers) That sucked, car was not running for 2.5 days cause I didn't prepare for it good enough.

I have those same headlights the APC H4 conversion. Nice headlights. What's the 13 stand for on your car Mark? Just wondering. I'm probably going to make Mantis88LX and myself a pair of clear corners. (maybe going to the junkyard and taking all that they have for corners.) But I have to do some major cleaning before my parents get hom from Mexico tonight.

that's just the remnants of my "rice phase" that i went through. 13 is my lucky number, not to mention the day I was born.

If I think I can do a lot of them and I like how they look would anyone be interested in buying them from me? (probably a dumb question) Note: I'm going to use plexi-glass not the light fixture stuff. The plexi-glass looks great on my bumper signals so this should turn out the same. I have a dremel, some plexi-glass (if I start a production of these then I'll need some more), I have silicone, I'm going to hopefully pick up about 4 sets today or wednesday (corners) So let me know if you would like to buy some from me when I start them.

Actually Mike, IMO, I've found that a plexi and ceiling tile combo works best. With mine, I actually have siliconed plexi and the tiling together. This gives the good "reflector style" or as close to oem look as possible, and being that it's faced with plexi, it's very durable.

So your saying to have the plexi-glass on the outside and that fixture stuff on the inside. Hmm I might have to think about that. I do like how the plexi-glass looks by itself though. If people are wondering about it being illegal. Just put orange bulbs in where I cleared it out and it will be ok. Newer cars have clear corners without refector thingys.

I have the headlights too (minus the tacky blue bulb) rice makes me sad-therefore all that is APC makes me sad. LOL. (not being a bitch- just learned from bad experience)

socal3rdgen
01-20-2003, 11:55 AM
yeah just dont use plexi-glass by itself you will be very
disapointed

I can provide the pics and a bit of the explanation but as for what you guys did with plexi-glass i have no clue because i didnt use any on mine.

socal3rdgen
01-20-2003, 12:40 PM
i didnt use plexi-glass neither. its the same way just with a extra sheet of plexi-glass.

If I spray chrome paint in the housing it should look fine with just plex-glass. I guess I'll see when I start making them. Still cleaning my house (my parents are getting home from Mexico tonight) so, I'll probably make it to the junkyard tomorrow. I don't know how much they'll cost though. If you send me a pair of sidemarkers it would be cheaper I can tell you that right now. I haven't looked at the 86-87 markers so I don't know if those will be harder to do. But PM me if you are interested, I know Julie will ;). I'll try to find a price estimate soon. (have to add up materials and stuff.)

Now, time out! What's that supposed to mean?!? (BY the way- plexi glass alone is the wrong way to go.) look at some pics...

Mike's89AccordLX
01-20-2003, 02:01 PM
Didn't mean anything by it. I was just planning to make you one b/c you said you wanted some too. And can someone please tell me what's wrong with plexi-glass? I like the totally clear look. Show some pics if you have them.

It's really not so much the problem while it sits there-even though it doesn't look the best, but it's when the blinker is turned on.

Mike's89AccordLX
01-20-2003, 02:19 PM
My blinkers in my bumper light up like 20ft in front of the car. (plexi-glass) They're really bright. Man did I make a mess this last week. (putting headers and straight pipe on in my garage) I had all kinds of weird stains on the cement. Maybe I'll use a blow torch to get the flamable stuff off :D

rare_89lxi_coupe
01-20-2003, 02:27 PM
20ft??? That's just obnoxious. ;) If you have one just for throw away, do it with plexi-glass alone and then try another one the other way- or find someone with a dayum pic...

Mike's89AccordLX
01-20-2003, 02:30 PM
I'm not kidding about the 20ft. I can see the blinker ahead of my car when i'm driving. I got out and measured it once and it was 20 of my feet. (measured by shoe length not with tape measure) But I have a size 12 US shoe.

Nice. I did a set for my accord. I used the front blinker lense for the corner though. Sorry no picture yet. Maybe later. :)
