Found some cheap pistons for us

I hope this in the right thread. It's not performance parts so I figured it would be here. I know they're just stock replacements but that's cheap and it would be like having a fresh motor. The link is for carbed accords but they also have the other models too.

if you look at the last link, look at the BS (A20A1) and BT(A20A3) specs. BT is smaller bore, but it has higher stoke.
so this means that we can use crank from EFI on CARB engine with carb pistons, and EFI head, boom you got higher compression.
oh about the pistons. they are stock.
none of them performance. performance one will cost 3-4 times more.

Everything else I have ever read points to the efi and carb having the same bore and stroke. A quick check in the honda parts catalog turns up the same part number, 13310-PH2-010, for the crank of both the efi and carb motors for 1989. Can't check the pistons that way but since honda reports the same displacement, 1955cc, for both motors for all years I don't think there is any diference in bore or stroke.

Mike's89AccordLX You should be able to mix and match with nothing gained and nothing lost. Make sure to check the service markings on the journals and bearing cabs to get the proper sized bearings (if you don't know what I mean its in the haynes manual).

shepherd79 The a1 and a3 have diferent pistons to give them diferent compression ratios, the bore diamater should be the same. The extra hp of the a3 doesn't come from the efi system alone.

The reason I want to get new pistons is I want to eventually get nitrious for my car and I think I would need better internals.

If thats the case look into some forged jobs then. I think weisco will make them for $90 a piston. Don't quote me on that price but they will custom make them for a fairly reasonable price. You just have to send them a stock one and tell them what cr you need.

I don't know what ratio I would need though. And I looked on the website and I can't load the custom section. Notepad won't load it on it.

Thats what phones are for ;). I'm no nos expert but I think you want to drop the cr a little bit to help with detonation. You should be able to find a nitrous build up faq some where on the internet.

I'm going to talk with this local pro shop on monday and find out everything that I would need to be nitrious ready. What really ticks me off though. I still won't beat those damn TSI Talons. I'm going to throw down another grand on stuff and I still won't beat those guys. At least I'll be a civic killer. :)
