So my '89 Accord EX has decided to stop idling recently, and I've troubleshooted it down to a solenoid which can't decide whether it's open or closed (linking inlet to throttle body).
Unfortunately because in NZ where I live, nobody seems to have these old Accords -- finding OEM parts is incredibly difficult. I've bypassed this solenoid and the engine is running fine (albeit idling at 1100rpm warm), however I know that this isn't the best sort of fix.
Is it worth even bothering to fix this issue? I'm considering getting a B20 or maybe even H22 swap at some point in the future, and since the engine at least actually runs I guess I'm fine until other issues arrise.
I've looked on ebay but I don't seem to be using the right terminology to find this part.. I'm happy to upload an image of the part in question.
Thanks in advance
