Grinding automatic tranny???

I just replaced my transmission on my 89 lxi acclord "automatic" and it works great except when its cold and i take it out of reverse it will make a chunking grind noise. If I warm my car up fully first it won't do it nearly as bad. Everyone I have talked to about this says they never heard an automatic tranny grind out of gears like mine does. Any ideas??

if your fluid levels are ok,and its not the normal clunking sound and it only happens in reverse, it may be the reverse idler bearing

well you know how you cant put it in gear without pushing on the brake well right now i have 3 auto 3g's at home hade four ones dead rip well they all do the same thing if i dont push on the brake enough when its cold manly it will grind like it does when you fuck up driveing stick.

If I were you I would swap in a 5 speed. Or get like a b18 or something. I was thinking about doing that swap until my bro sold his car.

Iam going to do a swap soon I think I'am getting the mounts and wireing harness from civtec I should be byeing them next week.

cool i'll try the brake nice and hard to see if it helps... what is the b18? I like it automatic, i thought about making it a stick but it would take too much effort. :D

thats the selector gear, mine does it too.

if you fellows junk your a/t's, I could sure use the shift cable..mine was melted a few months back when my cat overheated..and it's really stiff right now in the morning..better when hot, but I know this thing is gonna leave me somewhere when it breaks.

I got payapl, so drop me an email when you get the tranny out and extract the cable..somebody could certainly use the shift position swicth too ( I don't but there are some posts regarding trouble with the nuetral switch)

sorry don't have any 5spd stuff at all, all my 3g's are auto, but I do have lots of odds and ends mostly electrical
