i friend of mine has an extra set of 14 inch "ultra" rims.. they really dont look THAT great, but are certainly better than my stock hubcaps... he says he will sell them to me for like $150... and that includes tires that are like 50% good still... i know i wont want those rims forever, but i am thinking it would be a good starting out thing, and i can use them in the winter when i dont want "nice" ones to get trashed... whatcha think? yay or nay?

umm no i dont have a pic of them, though i will see if i can bum my gf's digital camera, and take one real quick... but i know you all have seen them before, they are very common, but you look at them, and arent really impressed, they do look cheap, but shit, for $150, i think i might pick them up anyway... i am sure i could sell again for $100 if i dont like them... lol

do yourself a favor build off of that 150 and get yourself some 17's

see thats what i cant deicde.... spend a little bit now, or wait and do what youre saying.... do 17's even look that good on our car? or are they two big??

the reason i am leaning towards getting the cheapo wheels now is because i need to focus on a lot of other things about my car right now, NOT the wheels... and this is something that could prolly just tide me over for a while~

i got my 17's with kuhmo tires for $320. i'm sure you can do better than some 14's.

Take one of the wheels and look on the inside of the rim. Look for where the rims is stamped with it's offset. It will read either in "mm" or with a funny pair of symbols that kinda look like "JJ" right after the number. 40 and 42 would be ok. If it says 38 or 35 walk away and move on to other choices. BTW, under the circumstances if the rims don't have ANYTHING stamped on them that let's you know their offset, that's reason to walk away as well. Just my 2 cent's, from someone that thought he could get away with rims with the wrong offset and end ended up learning the hard way.:crying:

If you care at all about performance, I can tell you that 14's will allow you to accelerate faster because they will be good for torque and they will probably weigh less than 17's.

I admire the spirt of your posting,.... but you just can't get a really good performance tire in 14". 15" has allot more to choose from in high performance tires, 16" is even better. I'm pretty sure the better tire(15" or 16") will overcome any weight gain over a lesser tired 14" combo.

I agree Jim, 15" is probably better than 14", and certainly better than 17".
