The top of my plastic radiator has a small crack and will probably need to be replaced in 3-6 months, according to my mechanic. Should I replace it with a metal radiator instead of plastic one? Does anyone make a metal radiator for our type of car? What are the pros and cons of each?

(My mother's 1991 Acura Legend had a plastic radiator that cracked and her mechanic replaced it with a metal one. He said that after 1992, Acura realized that a metal radiator was better so 1993-1995 Legends have metal radiators.)

plastic radiator? that is something i never heard of.
every radiator is made from aluminum or someother material, but not plastic. that thing would melt.

I believe Fluidyne makes a performance radiator. Saw it in a mag. awhile back. Guess it's supposed to cool stuff quicker.

If your car is stock, then your top tank (or whatever that top part of the radiator is called) is made of plastic.

Thanks, Mike. Do you know how much something like that would sell for?

I was planning on modding the 92 civic radiator to fit... if you have a automatic it might be harder to use since you won't have the trans cooling lines.

Hey so where are you now? Hon. or los Angeles?

Yeah, I have an automatic unfortunately.

I am in Honolulu this month, but I just finished a script so I will probably be back in Los Angeles very soon doing the meetings and all that jazz.

It's a movie script. Disney PG-type fare. It's basically "Notting Hill" but in high school.

Hm...I don't know David personally but I do know Frank South who produced Baywatch Hawaii so perhaps I could lend them my SE-i for shooting?

what good is a performance radiator if you got no mods?

Are you sure? I could pay something. Pflueger Honda was asking for $225 parts and $223 labor and I promptly told them "no thank you."

No, I don't have mods. I am just looking for something that will be more durable than what is currently in my car now.

Oh the one thing you have to worry about when putting in a radiator in an auto is having to deal with old cooling lines to the trans. if they are all dried out and hard... when You, I, or whoever removes them it may end up cracking... I'm not sure how much new tranny lines go for... but each line is only about 2' - 3' at most.

I had some transmission work done recently but I am not sure if it involved the cooling lines. I would have to check my records.

Today's not good for me. I am actually going to Pflueger once again to help my mom's friend purchase a Civic LX since the financing is 1.9%. After that, I may or may not go to some audio-visual meeting thing at Olelo.

When's the next day that would be convenient for you?
