I finally took out my amp/subs/box yesterday cuz i wanna try and go for speed now. I weighed the subs and box and it was about 120 pounds! Anyways taking it out really made the car alot faster and it handles much much better now, and my back bumper is litereally about 2 inches higher now that nothing is in my trunk.

I would hate to see what all my stuff weighs. Im gonna try to make the box somewhat removable for the track cause i have way to much weight in their.

3 amps
Cd Changer
Optima Battery
2 12" Infinity's
Custom enclosure amps and subs
and i wanted to try to get a 17"spare in their too!

120 pounds? Did you kill somebody and chopped up the corpse and crammed it in your speaker box? That's a lot of weigh, my friend for a sound system (at least it is to me).

I had some huge ass 15"s in my trunk. It looked like I had my car lowered an inch before i took them out.

the rear end of my car rose at least 2 inches when i took it out. It was 5 cu foot ported box with 2 kicker Comp Vrs (12in 2002 series) and the box is cross braces with like 2x4s and stuff... its frikkin bulletproof, made of 3/4 inch stuff, doubled up in some places. When i played a 33hz tone at full power, you could put your hand on the box and the box wouldnt vibrate at all, just the rest of the car, ive broken 6x9 mounds and those stupid 3rd brake lights (broke it 2x, and cut it down about 1/4 so it would stop hitting the glass)...

I take my box out on weekends when I go out to race and screw around and shit... It makes a HUGE difference... my box probably weighs 70 pounds or so...

Why so big? I thought those speakers only needed like 1.75 cubic feet each.

cuz ported is where the spl at. You shoulda seen these mofos pump at 33hz man... yikes excursion city. I put enough power to em to get the dustcaps warm. At like 625wrms/sub thats alot more than the 400rms theyre rated at, but they didnt rip the spiders and they didnt damage the voice coils... Excellent for the money IMO

Well I never looked to see what the ported inclosure volume is. I was just quoting the sealed box volume.

I know about the low notes. I have the comps. (2000) Nice and tight sound. They hit those low notes with accuracy. I have mine in a sealed inclosure with only 150w to each of them and its still enough to rattle your teeth.:)

Yeah the newer style Comps are excellent subs, especially the VRs, I think the rec ported box is 2.25 per sub, im not sure tho, but usually the bigger airspace you have the lower your sub tuning can go if you have a properly designed port. I peak out at around 31-33hz and most peoples stuff peakes at 45+ hz. The lower your tuning freq the louder you sound to everybody, but usually you meter less with that set up. I only hit 145.6 on an audiocontrol mic, and my friend has an earthquake shredder at 1 ohm (nearly 3kw power) and 2 12s ported in his cavalier and he peaks at 44hz but everybody thinks im louder. My setup has made me notorious in my area. Ive had bikers surround my car raving about my bass, neighbors chase me down the street, some come out their houses and yell from their doorsteps (like I can hear them) its soo much fun. Ever try and find out the resonant freq. of sombodys house?
