well rode in my friends 88 accord lxi 4 door automatic the exact same as mine, and it was 3 people in the car total, and his car seemed faster than mine when i am by myself almost....whats up with that?...im thinking i need a major tune up or my compression is low on some cylinders or something, anyway to tell?...and why does my steering wheel shake at idle.

Steering wheel shake can be several things

#1 Engine mounts
#2 Check your idle, it might be too low
#3 I don't know! Brain Fart!

Low Performance =
#4 Need tune up
#5 Check compression (don't know your specs)

nah the idle is set a little under a grand,,,,and i was also thinking the reason for crappy acceleration might be my timing

do the ignition tune up ( plugs , wires rotor cap ) ! and clean the carb by a carb cleaner !

if its a lx-i then get a can of Throttle body cleaner and follow the instructions on teh can, ( its sorta like carb clean but this is for fuel injected engines)

already did the throttle body cleaner....but i might try the igniton stuff

when your car is idling does the engine shake? If it does then I would say it's the motor mounts. Could also be your rack and pinion?

Adjust the valves! Mine were waaaay off when I bought the car. Most noticeable change is in the way the car idles.

I won't promise the steering wheel won't shake at all after a tune-up. I have new plugs and wires and the idle still isn't perfect.

where did you get your timing adjusted and for how much?

check the 2 bolts that connect the upper portion of the motor mount where they go into transmission. These bolts hold the entire weight of engine/ trans on a axis. Rear mount on firewall is what I'm saying:rant:

Man, my steering wheel also vibrate(seems more like stalling) when I'm idling in traffic. It's like so annoying. It seem to be doing this when the car is all warm up, and whenever the fan kicks in. When the fan kicks in, my idle speed would drop to really low and the whole front end would vibrate really badly. I replace the distributor cap & rotor, spark plugs & wires already and it seems to help a little but it still vibrate.

yeah my car seems to run real shitty on warmer days like 70 degrees and my wheel vibrates alot, but on cooler days it idles really smooth and my car has much more power

longevity: jump out your cooling fan motor with 12 volts and be carefull with yor pinkys. See how it turns. It may be going bad. Drawing to much current and almost ready to die.
nAccordlxi: on hot days remove your intake air filter housing and run engine for a minute. BUT not on a dusty day of course and see how it runs. If it runs good. Cold air intake? Homemade?

i just have a short ram intake not cold air
