I just got the DC short shifter and I want to install it. Do I have to drop the exhaust and heat shields to get at this thing? or can I do it from the inside of the car by removing that square piece where the shifter comes through the floor? thanks :)

If I remember correctly, you do need to drop the exhaust and/or heat shields. Haven't done it yet though

Yep, the exhaust and heat sheilds have to come off. But don't worry, you need to take "that square thing" out too. You have to unbolt the linkages from the bottom, but the shifter comes out through the top. A pair of snap ring pliers will come in handy as well.

Okay, thanks. This is too much work just for a short shifter :(

Wait a minute DC Sport's does not make a short shifter for the 3rd gen, were you going to try and convert a kit somehow?

well, the PN for the pacesetter short shifter for our cars is the same as the '84-'87 civic..., so, theoretically, is the DC Sports... (i guess?) this is what i've read. and the PN was confirmed, but i don't know if DC Sports makes theirs different.

83-87 Prelude one works too. I have the Pacesetter Prelude Adjustable one.
