avg temp around 13-14 Celsius

I normally let it warm up till the temp guage goes up atleast 1/4th..sometimes half way....but thats impacting my pocket now

so how long should I warm the car...

TIA :)

Some people say you don't have to let it sit at all, just keep the rpms low until the temp guage gets about halfway, while others say you shouldn't drive it until the temp guage is halfway.

It takes my car almost 10 min to warm up from about 2 degrees F its been in the single digits for 2 weex, and i usually go when i have hot air coming out of my vents, and the temp gauge starts to rise then too.

ok... its -2 degrees Farenheit in Chicago today. (-19 Celcius)

i started my car.... let it warm up for about a minute and try to go easy on her for the next couple minutes. it usually warms up this way within 4-6 minutes.

i have 221k miles on my car so i guess i am doing something right. the car warms up faster when driven than when idling and prolong idling is not good

otherwise, i usually let it warm up for about 30 seconds in winter... and less than 20 seconds otherwise

its not necessary to warm your car up at all. right when you start the car, the oil is being pumped and everything is being lubricated. actually, you have more oil pressure when the engine is cold, so you have even more protection. i drive my car the same anytime, and it had never let me down
