It's a matter if opinions really. Because you can slap a turbo on anything and make if fast. But if you looking to make the most of a motor and can afford to swap and turbo you'll end up with a high hp number. Now if you have limitless funds you can build a pretty mean A series so it just a matter of what you want to do.

swap isnt cheap or easy. nor is making a a series make more than 155whp. you decide if you rather struggle with the headache of doing a 3+grand swap to make 150whp or the headache of spending 3+ grand trying to find/make parts for the a series to break 200.

In my opinion if you just want good power, your money can go further in a turbo setup for the a20 I would guess. Turbo and convert to OBD1 you could make some good power.
That being said, there is a lot more support for the b-series motors, and I don't regret doing my swap. Depends on what your goals are with the car.

^^realism right there. Dollor for dollar you will get more out of boosting a a series. But long-term/ease of build/support b-series is smarter because u can find everything on cl.

I have recently bought a 1989 carbed Accord LX auto . I'm guessing I have an A20. I haven't been able to find the tag. I am in the same boat. Whatever engine I have I want more hp and pep from the car. What is the concensus? turbo the A for cheapest turnout? What all is needed to swap? And what is the best engine to swap? Sorry if this isn't supposed to be here. Just didn't want to start a thread on something I'm researching that has already probably been answered 10 times. If someone has a link to a thread that would suffice for a GREAT answer.

Do some searching around the forum. Your only real options are to either turbo the A or swap in the JDM B-series.

carb is hard unless you are willing to convert to EFI or just stick a weber to it for fast cheap fun.

Do we bets make a big enough difference to make it worth it?
