Throttle cable sticking

Before I go through the trouble of removing my air cleaners and such to have a look at the throttle cable, do you nice people at 3geez.com have any tips on what to look for as far as what will make a throttle stick? Thanks.

Something is broken on the linkage or the throttle shaft is worn out.

also look at the cable that runs to the trans if you have an automatic. My older gold hatch would catch about 1/2 to 2/3rds into the throttle, felt like a pop
