I'm having some richness probs. this moringing when i started my 5sp 89 accord (A201A) carbed, I had a fuel line freeze...but that's neither here nor there...I'm running really rich and getting terrible gas mil. about 150-190 per full tank ( I run it till wobbling on "e") I smell gas when I start and when it is idling. I have new NGK plugs...have not replace wires, cap button, or air filter. I'm stuck as it is 7 degrees here and much too cold to work on car. so any suggestions for adjusting anything? Would richness cause backfires? I hear a pop or 2 every few seconds as well as a LOT of moisture when I place my hand near exhaust. At first I thought it was normal exhaust but it really smells of gas. thanx guys..this board rocks!:pimp:

My richness at 1000 rpm is HC:7, CO2: 12.5, CO: .06, O2: 3.63, A/F Ratio: 17.5

This was put on the machine

I get around 350 miles to the tank (more or less, just depends)
Others should post their stats up

just make sure your auto choke opens when you start and warm up the car. If it doesnt thatll do it

just a quick ?? where is screw...I've seen pic before...could you post link...and it's 7 degrees...-23 with wind...can I do this rather quickly in the cold...and can I leave car running whilst doing this so I can tell when it's right? I can visualize but have never done it before so I don' know.

the only thing you have to remove is teh air box !
the car must be running and fully hot ( fan came at least once )
it's all in the link !

just think get the car hot park it to block the wind and you should remain kinda warm

could the carb idle mixture screw being out of adjustment cause the car to have trouble starting at times ?

ACCORD EX

yes it could be ! just adjust the whole carb following this how to ! it's a trouble free adjustment so don't worry about doing something wrong rather than getting the airbox's nuts ! :D
